  • Continuing our look at the practice of being loved by God, we read the story of Jesus encounter with a young mother desperate for healing of her daughter.

    Everything about their meeting is a violation of cultural expectations, and the scene is wrought with emotion. And in this meeting - where hope meets love - we see in stark relief the boundless love of God for each and every person, no matter how distant from God they may seem (or feel).

    The biblical passage referenced in this sermon is:

    • Matthew 15:21-28 (NRSV)

Canaanite woman wows

just discovered these podcasts and have been binge listening since! this one is a stunning insight into our Lord's loving heart... and I can't help but chuckle, since He surely already knew the encounter these Jewish dudes were about to experience, was there a sparkle of approval in His eyes as she persisted so valiantly and correctly through His challenges? I always understood this as the only time He loses an argument, but now I see it is like He was enactng a live parable, setting the Jewish participants up for another shocking revelation! LOVE the clearer understanding!
