  • From Complex To Queens, Episode 298: Oh right, this is a Mets podcast
    Jun 16 2025
Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. In case you missed it, there was some other notable major league news on Sunday night; we couldn’t help ourselves and spend our first 20 minutes talking Rafael Devers trade. Our conclusion? Having dumb teams in the league makes it more fun, and we’re glad the Mets aren’t one of them (you’ll have to listen to learn which team we decided was the dumb one here). Once back on topic, we check in on our system follows, which mostly turns into a discussion about Ronny Mauricio. Neither of us think he’s all that great right now, and he definitely needs to stop batting right-handed. And finally, we get to draft coverage. We’ve got four mock drafts to cover a month out from the actual event, and suffice it to say we don’t think a lot of the Mets’ picks make all that much sense. Probably because this front office doesn’t leak like it used to. • Flushing is Burning: LGD (Lou Gehrig Disappointment)
    Jun 15 2025
Grace is back as the good times continue to roll in Queens. The Mets are doing great, and it's very fun, both on TV and in person as Grace recently found out. There have been some sad happenings (including one right before the episode's recording), but on the whole it's a good time. Grace then turns her attention to yet another Lou Gehrig Day disappointment. There's so much the league and teams can do, and yet they continue to choose to do the bare minimum (if even that). A terrible disease deserves better work to fight it. Finally, an annual tradition: the Pride month double feature movie minute. Two recent overlooked queer films. One from last year about the coming out journey, and one from this year about the fight to make a family of your own as a queer person. Both lovely, heartwarming films that deserve attention. • A Pod of Their Own, Episode 239: Pete 243
    Jun 10 2025
Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the Mets getting the job done by winning the season series against the Dodgers and sweeping the Rockies. The Mets have gained ground on their division rivals and now have a 4.5 game NL East lead. The Mets’ big hitters are also all rolling. Pete Alonso reached a major milestone this week, passing David Wright on the Mets’ all-time home run list. Francisco Lindor is still doing Francisco Lindor things, even on a broken toe. And Juan Soto appears to have his groove back. We also discuss the latest roster notes, including Mark Vientos’ injury and Ronny Maurcio’s promotion and the tough decisions the Mets will soon have to make regarding their pitching staff. In the second half of the show, we shout out Willi Castro for his small display of trans pride and get excited about the Pride Ball. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
