Acerca de esta escucha
This Saturday, June 28th, the highly anticipated Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge takes over West Covington Park. Cheer on teams as they compete in thrilling 500- and 2000-meter races on the water, and enjoy festivities along the waterfront for all ages. Over at the Maryland Science Center, Domino Day returns with intricate domino setups themed “Around the World in 80 Days.” Arrive early to watch the builders, then settle in for the grand topple at 2 p.m. as a sea of dominoes comes crashing down—a mesmerizing spectacle for kids and adults.
Art lovers should head to the Baltimore Museum of Art for “Air Quality: The Influence of Smog on European Modernism,” a free exhibit running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Or, stay after hours for their Summer Solstice celebration, where you can dance, explore special exhibitions, and enjoy themed cocktails.
For families, Port Discovery Children’s Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with interactive fun, and the Maryland Zoo is lighting up the evenings with “Spring Illuminations,” a lantern-filled journey after dark running through June 30th.
Saturday evening, the Lyric Baltimore hosts Orchestra Noir’s “Y2K Meets 90s Tour” at 8 p.m. This high-energy show fuses orchestral talent with classic hip-hop and R&B from the 90s and early 2000s, promising a nostalgic and vibrant night out. For something a little more offbeat, the Oddities and Curiosities Expo at the Baltimore Convention Center unveils everything weird and wonderful—from taxidermy and rare antiques to original art—happening Saturday and Sunday.
If you’re after more rhythm, Keystone Korner offers “Motown & More: The Legacy Lives” on Sunday, and music fans can also catch the comedian Ryan Sickler at Horseshoe Casino on Saturday. Over at Ottobar, “Amped Up!” is rocking out to benefit the Maryland SPCA, blending live music and great food for a worthy cause.
Don’t forget ongoing exhibits like “Toxic Overburden” at The Peale, highlighting environmental justice in Curtis Bay, or the interactive family workshops free at local libraries and neighborhood art spaces throughout the weekend.
To wrap up your weekend, you can dine in the dark on Sunday at The Collective Encore, adding a unique twist to your culinary experience, or enjoy a screening of “A Goofy Movie” at Le Mondo for a family-friendly film night.
