This week: Mitch and Missy sat down with Brian Nietzel and Kelly Mellen of Making Things Right to kick off Pride Month. Kelly Mellen joined Making Things Right in March 2024 as Marketing Director. Since then, her role has expanded alongside the organization’s growth to manage their key initiatives and daily operations. If asked to identify her ”why”, she would tell you that she is compelled to be on the right side of history in seeing all people treated justly. Brian Nietzel has helped Christians and churches pivot from doctrinal debates to productive, practical engagement around LGBTQ+ matters. He co-founded Renovus in 2019, an organization helping hundreds of LGBTQ+ people reclaim their faith. In 2021, he launched the Making Things Right project, which established 501(c)(3) status in 2024. Rev. Kelsey Davis has the heart of a chaplain, teacher, organizer, and coach. She is a former professional soccer player, and her athletic career was shaped by U.S. Youth National Teams as a goalkeeper at every youth national team level, including as a member of the 2004 U-19 FIFA World Cup and 2006 U-20 FIFA World Cup teams, and was grateful to be called into one camp with the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2009. Georgia McKee is a Baptist minister, writer, and former NCAA Division I athlete passionate about the intersection of faith, athletics, and justice. A 2021 graduate of Belmont University, she played softball while earning a B.A. in Faith & Social Justice, exploring the unique intersections of sports, public life, and theology. She later earned her Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University School of Divinity, where she was a Wait Fellow and president of the Student Leadership Council.
