He emphasized community in Christianity and was instrumental in sending missionaries around the world, including to the Americas and the West Indies. In about 1727, he was part of the spiritual renewal that was birth out of a small village and began the international world mission movement. The royalty of Europe all knew him and either loved him or hated him. He believed that every race, class and gender was important to His Lord and Savior. ••• “And let me tell you, the more labour you have put forth for the Kingdom of heaven, the more degrees of glory you shall have. Though every vessel of mercy shall be full, yet one may hold more than another”, Thomas Watson, 1620-1686, educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he was noted for remarkably intense study. In 1646 he commenced a sixteen year pastorate at St. Stephen's, Walbrook. He showed strong Presbyterian views during the civil war. He obtained great fame and popularity as a preacher until the Restoration, when he was ejected for nonconformity. Upon the Declaration of Indulgence in 1672 and after preaching at the great hall in Crosby House for several years, his health gave way, and he retired to Barnston, Essex, where he died suddenly while praying in secret.†

••• “Spiritual advancement is measured by faithful obedience”, Watchman Nee (Chinese: 倪柝聲; pinyin: Ní Tuòshēng; Foochow Romanized: Ngà̤ Táuk-sĭng; 1903–1972), A Chinese Christian author & church leader during the early 20th Century. Nee founded the "Local churches." He became a Christian in 1920 at age 17 & began writing in the same year. In 1921, he met the British missionary Miss M. E. Barber, who was a great influence and introduced him to many of the Christian writings which were to have a profound influence on him & his teachings. Nee attended no seminaries. His knowledge was acquired through studying the Bible & reading various Christian spiritual books. During his 30 years of ministry, beginning in 1922, Nee traveled throughout China planting churches among the rural communities & holding Christian conferences & trainings in Shanghai. In 1952 the communists cut his tongue out for preaching & imprisoned him until his death in 1972. †

Being born into an artistic & wealthy family, he received a good education which led to his holding prominent positions at Cambridge University & Parliament. As a student at Trinity College, Cambridge, England, George Herbert excelled in languages & music. He went to college with the intention of becoming a priest, but his scholarship attracted the attention of King James I. Herbert served in parliament for two years. After the death of King James & at the urging of a friend, Herbert's interest in ordained ministry was renewed. In 1630, in his late thirties he gave up his secular ambitions & took holy orders in the Church of England, spending the rest of his life as a rector of the little parish.
