Episode 05: LIVE aus dem Museum Strauhof, Zürich!

Obacht - ab Minute 3:00 merken Lea und Jane, dass es durchaus nicht-Deutsch-sprechende Zuschauende hat und wechseln knallhart wiedermal auf Englisch.

From Minute 3:00 onwards, Lea Whitcher and Jane Mumford realized that there are non-German-speaking audience members in the audience, and thus switched back to English once more.

For the Liv Strömquist exhibition in Zurich they got the chance to do 3 separate Podcasts about the Swedish graphic-novellist, who deconstructs patriarchy in a very philanthropic way. Under the male gaze of a blow-up eyeball, they go on to talk about whether they feel comfortable or uncomfortable sitting in front of the audience in bikinis, being tyranized by one's own performed online image, and the amount of dead mother-figures in pop culture.

Episode 04: Eigentlich wollten Lea und Jane ja schon lange draussen auf einer Wiese liegen mit den Füssen im Pool um anständig Feminismus zu betreiben, aber nix da Sonne. Der Mai wollte und wollte nicht aufhören zu regnen! Darum packten sie ihr Recording-Equipment und flüchteten dortin, wo sie niemand schreien hört: in den Bandraum!! Und es geht um alles, was gerade in ihrem Leben so läuft: Instagram outsourcen als erster Schritt zu einer besseren Care-Gesellschaft? Ein Stapel dreckiger Teller im Bett als Indikator für schlechte Work-Life Balance? Gut gemeinte aber doch abwertende Frauenbezeichnungen im Zeitungsbericht? Alles wird auseinandergenommen. Ausserdem gibt's eine neue Rubrik namens: Most feminist thing of the month! Und dann folglich: Most UNfeminist thing of the month! (Kei Angscht, alles uf Schwiizerdütsch). Lea hat auf einem ICE eine Gruppe von Männern NICHT zurechtgewiesen und Jane war im Publikum bei einer Preisverleihung in der NUR Männer auf der Bühne standen. Tja, shit happens. Ein schlechtes Gewissen haben als Individuen bringt die Gesellschaft aber auch nicht weiter, wie Lea korrekt feststellt - es gibt Jane aber zumindest ein wenig sadistischer Genuss. Was das “most-feminist” Ding ist, das die beiden erlebt haben, müsst ihr halt selber nachhören, hier bei FEMINISM BY THE POOL!

For the Liv Strömquist exhibition in Zurich, Lea Whitcher und Jane Mumford presented 3 live-shows of "Feminism by the pool"! Episode 2 was held in English for the first time, and boy it was fun!! Jane & Lea tackle the topics of: aging (un-)gracefully, the male gaze (pros and cons), what to do with boobs, mimetic desire (google it) mimetic rivalry and how much of our hair we can cut/let grow without endangering our partnerships.
