"I think a problem with a lot of sci-fi is their propensity to one-note species. And Trek is often no exception: The Klingon and honourable and violent, the Vulcans are logical, the Ferengi are profit-obsessed and misogynistic—and then we meet Ishka.

This episode is funny, but also manages to really develop and complicate the characters of Quark and Rom while keeping the flavour of Ferengi culture. Ishka criticises Ferengi society, but she is still fully Ferengi, not a stand-in for "humans are the best."

Hosts Khaki and Kay have great chemistry, and are a pleasure to listen to. Chief Engineer Greg is delightful as well, and a great addition since their earlier podcast So Farscape. Though, as seems to be the fate of all Chief Engineers, sometimes it's a job and a half just keeping the hosts from flying her apart!
The Podcast's format keeps things interesting as well. That's because this time, it's personal! Instead of a full watch through of any particular series (see: So Farscape) they have opted to watch and discuss fan suggested content taken from the Star Trek universe as a whole.
Their only criteria: for better or for worse, someone out there truly loves it! Their goal as hosts is to find a way to share that love. That concept is quite literally the joy of watching and discussing Star Trek with anyone. This approach keeps the energy of their show fun and positive, it keeps the over all pacing of the podcast up, and it makes every new episode an enjoyable surprise.
The Result: a Star Trek party mix of greatest hits and greatest misses that you won't mind getting jammed in the tape deck! If you're in to that sort of thing, that is.
