  • Views on the Pew and an Important Announcement--S7.E1
    Jul 6 2025
In this episode, we answer listener questions about behavior in church. Is it okay to applaud in church after an especially stirring musical performance? If you're sitting at the end of the pew, should you move to the center to make room for people as they arrive? And finally, how do we feel about taking family photographs after a funeral service? After we discuss these dilemmas, we have an important announcement about the future of our podcast, so stick around until the end. Ethics and Etiquette is a thought-provoking dialogue about everyday dilemmas. We give you insights and perspectives to help you examine your choices and exercise your own ethical muscles. The podcast is presented by author and host Marna Ashburn; wife, mother, and attorney Kelly Halligan Zimmerman; and Mike Derrick, a retired Army Officer, combat vet, and father of four. • How to Safeguard Yourself From Online Scams--S6.E5
    Mar 22 2024
Today we pivot slightly to talk about a growing concern in American society--Phishing, Smishing, and Vishing. That is, online scams involving email (phishing), texting (smishing), and voice or telephone (vishing). They're not only unethical, they're downright illegal. Scamming incidents are on the rise and they're getting more sophisticated, leaving thousands of victims in their wake. This episode provides information on three important areas: The first segment describes common scams out there, and our personal experience with them. In the second part (29:36) we give you a list of safety practices to help keep your assets protected. The third segment (44:30) outlines immediate steps to take if you find yourself caught up in a scam. Knowledge is power and forewarned is forearmed. We hope the discussion in this podcast leaves you better equipped to spot scams and to keep yourself and your family protected.
