She shares her own experience of having surgery approved after just a few visits with a family doctor at the gender clinic and one psychiatric consultation. As a psychiatric mental health nurse, Aaron has raised alarms about the urgent need for accountable practices, if any at all, in medical gender transition. Her advocacy is informed by her life as a de-transitioned transgender man, lifelong butch lesbian and clinician.
