  • Malibu High (1979) – Sleaze, Exploitation, and One Wild Summer Movie
    Jul 8 2025
🎓 “You can screw the teachers, but you can’t screw the school!”

Life’s A Beach Month keeps the summer sleaze rolling as Henrique and David head to California for a wild deep cut from the exploitation vaults—Malibu High (1979)!

After being dumped by her boyfriend and on the verge of flunking out, Kim takes drastic measures by using her body to climb the social and financial ladder. But things take a dark, unexpected turn in this bizarre blend of teen drama and low-budget crime thriller.

Directed by Irvin Berwick and starring Jill Lansing, Tammy Taylor, and Garth Pillsbury, this Crown International cult classic is packed with misleading marketing, odd tonal shifts, and some truly unconvincing kills—but that’s all part of the charm.

    🎧 This episode covers:
    • Could this film be any more whack-a-doo?
    • Why is Kim so desperate to graduate?
    • Are any of the deaths even slightly convincing?
    • Did they really use the People’s Court theme in a chase scene?
    • How much money did this sleazy gem make for Crown International?

    🎤 PLUS:
    • Are we seeing a new trend in movie trilogies?
    • What’s it like working with indie horror icon Mark Polonia?
    • The ending tropes that make or break a movie
    • Does M3GAN 2.0 & 28 Years Later require a trip to the theater?
