  • Thank God For Everything (TGIF) - Why Every Holiday With Your Family is a Countdown
    Jul 5 2025

In this episode, we're diving deep into the mathematics of love and the precious reality of our limited time with family. Today, we're sharing a powerful 4th of July reflection that will transform how you think about every holiday, every phone call, and every moment with your loved ones. This isn't just about gratitude - it's about US, our intentional choices, and how every day is a milestone worth celebrating.

Remember when we used to think making it to 18 or 21 was the goal? Now we're realizing that if your parents are in their 70s, you might only have 10 more 4th of Julys together. We're sharing an incredible story from an Uber driver who lost his wife tragically but still overflows with gratitude for his family support system while raising two small children, including a four-year-old with autism. This man's perspective on finding blessing through tragedy will challenge everything you think you know about gratitude.

We're also exploring God's omnipresent protection - how He's above us like a shield, behind us cleaning up our mistakes, and in front of us lighting the path home like that Krispy Kreme "Hot Now" sign calling us to pull up on Him. From brushing your own teeth to having sanity and shelter, EVERYTHING is a blessing worth thanking God for.

  • The Corner Connection - Defiance vs Independence 'When Is Your Child's Choices Theirs?'
    Jul 3 2025

In this episode, we're diving deep into one of the most controversial parenting topics of our time - navigating authority with our young adult children who are still financially dependent. Today, we're tackling the hard questions about when parental guidance ends and adult independence begins, and trust me, this conversation is going to challenge some perspectives.

This isn't just about being right or wrong - it's about US, our parenting philosophies, and how we prepare our young adults for the real world. I'm sharing some personal stories from my Brooklyn upbringing that shaped my understanding of respect, consequences, and what it means to make adult choices. From the unforgettable lesson my father taught me about authority to the practical strategies we use today, this episode explores the delicate balance between guidance and independence.

Remember how our parents prepared us for the world by teaching us to follow instructions and face consequences? We're examining whether those same principles apply when our 20-something kids are still living under our roof, driving our cars, and depending on our support. This conversation spans cultural differences, generational perspectives, and the modern challenges of extended adolescence.

Drop me a comment about your own parenting philosophy - do you think financial dependence should come with behavioral expectations, or should adult age automatically mean complete autonomy? Share how you navigate these challenging conversations with your young adult children and what boundaries you've set in your own home.

Let's keep building authentic relationships and honest conversations about the parenting challenges we're all facing. 💪🏾 Cousin Ed's Corner is about real talk - we're not just discussing it, we're living it. Share this with another parent who needs to hear they're not alone in these struggles!

  • Thank God For Everything (TGIF) - When God Puts Goliath in Your Path
    Jun 28 2025

In this episode, we're diving deep into what it means to be a warrior when life puts Goliaths in your path and you don't even have a slingshot to fight with. Today, I'm sharing the incredible story of a young man I used to coach who graduated from Georgia Tech despite enduring three surgeries during his college career, plus a personal memory from my childhood in Flatbush that taught me about divine courage.

This isn't just about facing external battles - it's about US, our daily fights, and recognizing that sometimes our biggest Goliath is just getting out of bed or maintaining faith when every door seems closed. I'm talking about finding what keeps you grounded when you want to give up, because God doesn't want us to lay down - He wants to see if we'll keep fighting even when victory seems impossible.

Remember, your very existence is a testimony to someone else who's struggling. We're exploring how being yourself IS spreading the word, and how your life story - with all its battles and victories - shows others that God's grace is real and His power is sufficient. Whether you're fighting through job loss, health challenges, or just the daily struggle to keep going, this episode is your reminder that you're already victorious because you made it through yesterday.

  • Wind Down Wednesday - Stop Waiting for Permission to Live 'Replenish Your Cup Each Day'
    Jun 25 2025

In today's episode: we're diving deep into the power of living in the moment and authentic self-care. I'm sharing my grandmother's wisdom that can completely transformed how you approach life. This isn't just about summer vibes - it's about US, our mental health, and how we've been trained to wait for the "perfect moment" while missing out on the beautiful small moments happening right now.

Remember when someone told you to "smell the roses"? We're breaking down why most of us only get roses when we're gone, and how to change that starting TODAY. I'm sharing real conversations with friends who waited too long to enjoy their lives, the "replenish vs fill" philosophy that will revolutionize your self-care game, and why us men especially need to hear this message during Men's Mental Health Awareness Month.

This episode is packed with practical wisdom about finding free local events, creating meaningful staycations, and building a life you don't need to escape from. We're talking about the rubber band theory of life - if you don't use it, it breaks. Just like us.

  • Motivation Monday - Have Some Humility!!!
    Jun 24 2025

Today, We're talking about those conversations that make you uncomfortable but are absolutely necessary? Well, I had one of those with my son recently, and it taught both of us some powerful lessons about humility, growth, and what it really means to live up to our potential. In this Motivational Monday episode, I'm opening up about a pretty intense father-son conversation that started with me calling out my son for just "getting by" when I knew he had so much more to offer. What happened next completely surprised me and reminded me why having the courage to engage in difficult conversations - and the wisdom to receive them with humility - can be life-changing.

I'm sharing this personal story because I know we've all been there - on both sides of these tough conversations. Whether you're the one giving feedback or receiving it, there's something powerful that happens when we learn to pause, evaluate, and respond with an open heart instead of a defensive stance. My son's journey from "ten toes down" defensiveness to coming back the next day with humble acknowledgment shows us all what real growth looks like. This isn't just about parenting or coaching - this is about how we show up in life when someone we trust tells us something we might not want to hear.

So tune in as I break down why these hard conversations are necessary, how to know your audience, and most importantly, how to create space for real transformation to happen. Whether you're a parent, coach, mentor, or someone working on your own personal development, this episode will challenge you to examine how you handle feedback and embrace the uncomfortable conversations that lead to breakthrough moments. Don't sleep on this one - your growth depends on it.

  • The Corner Connection - Beyond the Mask: Why Strong Men Need Stronger Support Systems
    Jun 21 2025

In this episode, I had the incredible honor of having Essence of Poetry, a true queen and Sistah of this show, open up our conversation about Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. Her words set the tone for something I've been needing to say for a long time - that all need safe spaces where they can be vulnerable, grow, and strengthen each other without fear of judgment or attack.

Today, I get real about the impossible standards we place on men to always be strong, to never show emotion, and to carry the weight of the world without ever letting anyone see us sweat. I share my own struggles with the alpha versus beta mentality that's tearing our communities apart, and why I believe that showing vulnerability actually makes you stronger, not weaker. We dive deep into the fear that keeps us silent - the fear of disappointing our peers, our partners, and our loved ones who might see us as less than the security blanket they need us to be.

This isn't just about when dating or when married either. I'm talking about the judgment we face from our own brothers, our friends, and even our family members when we dare to express how we really feel. Too often, when a man finally opens up, he's met with "man up" or "stick your chest out" instead of the understanding and affirmation he needs. I've been guilty of this myself, and I'm calling all of us to do better. This episode is my invitation for you to join a community where listening comes before judging, where we hold each other up instead of tearing each other down.

I also break down the different levels of help available - from trusted loved ones to life coaches, counselors, and psychiatric care when needed. Because sometimes we can't handle everything on our own, and that's not only okay, it's human. Too many good men have checked out because they felt alone in their struggles, and I'm determined to make sure that doesn't happen on my watch.

    Tune In now: https://linktr.ee/cousinedscorner
