After it faced a major jolt during the voting on the lone Rajya Sabha seat of the state, the Congress government is on the verge of losing power in Himachal Pradesh. Six Congress MLAs ditched the party in the RS polling on Tuesday, joined by three independents who helped the BJP candidate win the Upper House seat in a high-voltage political drama. The defeat was triggered by the cross-voting of six Congress MLAs and three independent candidates. All of these legislators are expected to join the BJP. As a result, the Congress now finds itself one seat shy of the crucial majority mark of 35 in the state Assembly.
