You Don't Say - Things Jesus Didn't Say

Some sayings sound spiritual but aren't scriptural. We repeat them for comfort, clarity, or conviction—phrases like “Everything happens for a reason” or “God helps those who help themselves.” But what if these phrases misrepresent the heart of Jesus?

This series exposes five popular Christian clichés that Jesus never said. Instead of relying on half-truths, we’ll look at what Scripture really says, and what Jesus did say, so we can build a faith that’s true, deep, and rooted in grace. Each week, we’ll replace confusion with clarity and easy answers with real hope.

God Helps Those Who Help Themselves

This phrase sounds like personal responsibility, but it’s not from Jesus—it’s from Ben Franklin. Jesus actually helps the helpless, lifts the lowly, and calls us to serve the least. This message challenges self-reliance and calls us back to grace and compassion.

God Wont Give You More Than You Can Handle

When life hands you lemons, make Holy Water. You know those days, weeks, months, or even years when you can’t seem to catch a break? Everything is crumbling, confusing, or downright hurting. Today, we dive into scripture to recognize that you’re not alone in those days. Yes, God is with you, but other people are going through it, too, or have gone through it. God has created a network of support, love, and resilience open to all of us. We just have to take those “lemons” and turn them into something holy and wonderful.

    Everything Happens for a Reason

We often say “everything happens for a reason” to bring comfort or because we just don’t know what to say, but did Jesus ever say that? This week, we’ll explore what Scripture really says about God’s sovereignty, human suffering, and the hope we find in Jesus, not in easy answers. Discover how God's presence matters more than pat explanations.
