    We got some news and updates from both the NBA and WNBA. Coach James Young will cover it all with you on this episode.

    On our Tip Off Topics, Marcus Smart finds a new home in Los Angeles with the Lakers on a two-year deal. Kyle Filipowski was awarded Summer League MVP after posting remarkable numbers throughout the summer league season this year. In the WNBA, Jonquel Jones makes her return from injury and leads the Liberty to victory in their last game against the Fever. Also, the Wings upset the Storm in dramatic fashion on Tuesday with efficient performances from Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale.

    On our Award Tour, we take a look at all the odds for the teams in the Eastern Conference in the NBA to see if those teams will either make or miss the 2025-26 playoffs. It's going to be anyone's conference to take with the way teams are stacking up and with the amount of star players out for a significant period of time or even for the whole season.

    Lastly, on Coach's Scouting Report, we preview all three games in the WNBA. Coach will give you a best bet and some player props to look out for with each matchup.

  • 199: 7/22: Damian Lillard Returns to Portland + Should WNBA Players Get Paid More? & More

    A ton of major updates and offseason moves took place over the weekend in the NBA as well as recapping the WNBA All Star Weekend and some upcoming action to go over. All will be discussed with Coach James Young on this episode.


    On our Tip Off Topics, Damian Lillard and Chris Paul decide to sign back with their respective former teams. Lillard heads back to Portland on a three-year deal and Chris Paul returns to the Clippers on possibly his last season in the league. In addition, Pelicans rookie Derik Queen had to undergo surgery that will sideline him for the next three months. Also, Coach provides his overall thoughts on the WNBA All Star weekend action and about their plea to the league with their warmup shirts saying “Pay Us What You Owe Us”.


    On our Award Tour, we take a look at the futures market in the NBA to see which team will come out of the Eastern and Western Conference for the 2-2025-26 season. Should it be favorites with Cleveland and Thunder or will there be any sleepers to look out for?


    Lastly, on Coach's Scouting Report, we preview Tuesday's (07/22) WNBA matchups. The second of the season is underway and there's going to be major drama for the teams that want to solidify their spot for the postseason.

    Sad news to start the Tip Off Topics as Fever star Caitlin Clark suffered a groin injury during Indiana's win over the Sun on Tuesday. What does this mean for the Fever going forward? In addition, ESPN released its Top 20 WNBA Players in the league so far this season. Were they accurate or did some players deserve higher rankings? In the NBA, Paul George and Dereck Lively had to go through respective procedures. Can they recover before the start of this upcoming training camp?


    We have two Award Tours to showcase. In the NBA Award Tour, we take a look at some futures in the betting market: MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, 6th Man of the Year, and Coach of the Year. Are the favorites the clear winners or are there some dark horse picks that could cash during the 2025-26 season.


    Lastly on the WNBA Award Tour, we update the win totals for all teams in the league. Coach lists some teams to look out for during the remainder of the 2nd half of the season.

    More NBA offseason movements and extensions that have occurred, the 2025 Summer League progresses, and some WNBA action as well. All will be discussed with Coach James Young on this episode.

    On our Tip Off Topics, the Mavericks shutdown rookie Cooper Flagg after two performances in the 2025 Summer League. It seems that Dallas is satisfied with what Flagg brought to the table after two games. In addition, Jalen Williams, Devin Booker, and Herb Jones signed extensions for their respective teams. Were these the right moves for each team for the future? Also, Cole Anthony gets bought out by the Grizzlies and plans to sign with the Bucks. Let's see if this helps the Bucks' bench. Lastly, Caitlin Clark was distributing the ball in her last game against the Wings, Coach called it out saying that Clark needed to pass the ball more and she delivered.

    On our Award Tour, we take a look at the West side of division odds in the NBA. Coach breakdowns each team to see how each stacks up in Northwest, Pacific, and Southwest Divisions.

Can New York make a push after struggling the past few games? Also, DeWanna Bonner signs with her former team in the Phoenix Mercury after she asked the Fever to be let go.

    More offseason moves in the NBA are still brewing and the WNBA is approaching its midway point of the season. On this episode, Coach James Young goes through all of that and more, especially since some of the NBA rookies of the 2025 draft class will be taking part in this year's Summer League.


    First up on our Tip-Off Topics, we review the three-team trade that involved Norman Powell being sent to the Heat, John Collins heads to the Clippers, and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a future second round pick go to the Jazz. One can wonder how this either defies or benefits each team going forward. DeAndre Ayton signs a two-year deal with the Lakers. Can he help LeBron, Doncic, and company to contend for a title next season? Speaking of the Lakers, Bronny James showed what he could in his 11 minutes of action in his first Summer League game of 2025. Should he get more playing time going forward? In addition, the Denver Nuggets are trying to keep Jonas Valanciunas after acquiring him in a trade. Mentioning trades, Cam Whitmore gets traded to the Wizards. Also, we break down the first game performances in the Summer League from 76ers' VJ Edgecombe and Jazz's Ace Bailey.

    On this episode with Coach James Young, we bring you an NBA free agency special, giving you two segments worth of the notable moves and signings that teams have made so far to kick off the offseason. In addition, we got some WNBA action to preview.

    On our elongated Tip Off Topics, we reviewed some of the movements in the NBA free agency. There have been players going left and right to different teams and some that resigned contract extensions. Some of the notable occurrences that took place are the Knicks hiring Mike Brown as their next head coach. Myles Turner signs a massive deal with the Bucks, meanwhile Milwaukee, in the process, waives Damian Lillard to and stretch out the remainder of his contract. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander resigns with the OKC Thunder after winning this season's NBA Title. The Nuggets acquired Cam Johnson from the Nets in a trade with Michael Porter Jr.. Jaren Jackson Jr. signed a huge extension with the Grizzlies but injures his foot, which would require surgery. There are many moves to uncover and free agency is going to keep being hectic if it continues like this.

    Lastly in the third segment with Coach's Scouting Report, we preview five games in the WNBA tipping off on Thursday. Coach will give you a best bet for each matchup to look out for.

    There’s been a ton of free agency and offseason moves, buyouts, and extensions made around the NBA not to mention there have been major changes in the WNBA regarding this season and for the future. All will be unveiled with Coach James Young on this episode.


    On our Tip Off Topics, there have been some contract extensions, trades, and buyouts that have happening to start free agency:
    LeBron James opting in to his contract for next season, James Harden declining his player option and sign a two-year deal to remain with the Clippers, Jabari Smith, Naz Reid, and Julius Randle sign massive contract extensions with their respective teams, Lonzo Ball gets traded to Cleveland, Collin Sexton gets traded to Charlotte while Jordan Clarkson gets bought out and much more. Coach wonders if any of these were the right moves to approach the 2025-26 season.


    On our Award Tour, we take an early look at some of the popular props the betting market offers for the Mavericks #1 overall pick Cooper Flagg. Does he have the ability to record any of the four props listed that are listed so far? In the WNBA, we update every teams' win totals. Much has changed since the start of the season, especially for the new franchise in the Golden State Valkyries, who have exceeded expectations so far before the All Star break.


    Lastly on Coach's Scouting Report, we preview Tuesday's battle between the Fever and the Lynx for the Commissioner's Cup Final. It's going to be a real competition to see who comes out on top. The other is the WNBA announcing three more expansion teams leading all the way up to 2030. It's going to be an exciting time for the WNBA for years to come very quickly.
