In the second Test at Galle, Australia secured a 2-0 series sweep against Sri Lanka with a commanding nine-wicket victory. Captain Steve Smith led the charge, scoring his second century of the series and surpassing Ricky Ponting's record for most Test catches by an Australian fielder. Alex Carey delivered a career-defining performance, amassing 156 runs in the first innings. Australia's spinners, Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan Lyon, were instrumental, collectively taking 30 wickets across the series.

Despite resistance from Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis, Australia maintained control throughout. This series marked Australia's first Test series victory in Sri Lanka since 2011.
