**American Civil War & UK History Podcast**

The podcast was born on December 26th, 2020, and I have always been passionate about history from a young age. My interest in the American Civil War began in 2004 after watching the movie *Gettysburg*. Since then, my passion for this topic has only grown. Although I don't live in America and cannot easily access the Civil War battlefields, I reside in the beautiful county of Kent, known as the Garden of England. Kent has a rich history, which has also fueled my fascination with UK history. This inspired the name of my podcast, *American Civil War & UK History*.

While I have a general love for all history, I realized I had confined myself to specific topics. To expand my discussions, I created two other podcasts in 2024: *For the Passion of History*, where I explore various historical subjects that interest me, and *The Figures of the American Civil War*, focusing on the remarkable individuals of that period.

The goal of my platforms is to share my passion for history with like-minded individuals. Cheers,
Daz

The Battle Gettysburg Pickett's Charge With (Matt Atkinson)

In this episode of American Civil War & UK History, host Daz is joined by a Park Ranger from Gettysburg National Military Park to discuss July 3rd at the Battle of Gettysburg and Pickett's Charge.

Pickett's Charge was an infantry assault on July 3, 1863, during the Battle of Gettysburg. It was ordered by Confederate General Robert E. Lee as part of his plan to break through Union lines and achieve a decisive victory in the North. The charge was named after Major General George Pickett, one of the Confederate Army's division commanders. The assault was aimed at the center of the Union Army's position on Cemetery Ridge, which was believed to be a vulnerable point in the Union defenses.
