 Season 7, Episode 3. Amb. Ronald Saborío, Mission of Costa Rica to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. I had an insightful conversation with Ambassador Saborío, who has had a long and successful career in trade diplomacy, becoming a reference point in everything to do with the WTO. We dived into a wide range of topics, including the future of international trade and diplomacy. I met him at the beginning of my career in trade when I attended my first meeting of the Dispute Settlement Body Special Session a few years back. The discussions during those sessions were very technical and detailed, and they have informed the way I view discussions and negotiations at the WTO ever since. Ambassador Saborío also discussed his career, the good, the bad, and the ugly, but overall, he had a very optimistic view of what lay ahead. It was a pleasure talking to him, and I just wished I had recorded the conversation after the episode because he shared some great stories about what has happened in the WTO and how we got to where we are today.
