 In this week's episode, we butcher (pun intended) the story of the Axeman of New Orleans — a guy who somehow managed to terrify an entire city with an axe, a badly written letter, and a weird obsession with jazz. Between 1918 and 1919, the Axeman went on a spree of breaking into people's homes, murdering innocent grocers, and confusing the hell out of law enforcement. We’ll dig into the crimes, the absolute circus that was the investigation, and how New Orleans basically threw a citywide jazz party to try not to die.
