In this interview episode, Bryan Stanton (chair of "Teaching While Queer," a not-for-profit organization) shares the importance of allyship even when it feels scary or uncomfortable. "But how can I be an ally?," you ask?! Listen as Bryan shares the importance of visual signals, asking about pronouns, checking in on queer students, creating space for queer educators, preserving accurate history (i.e., NOT banning books), listening to understand, and attending professional development focused on how to be an ally to queer educators and how to nurture LGBTQ students.

Speaking of professional learning.... Bryan is the host of the Teaching While Queer podcast AND organizer of the upcoming Teaching While Queer Educator Conference. Guess what?! It's a virtual conference happening October 2025! I hope to see you there.

Thank you SO much to Bryan for sharing their story on the School Psych Podcast, as well as endless guidance and tips on how to better support our queer educators and students.
