 In November 2024, Deepak Gadhia, Chairman of Sunrise CSP India, was honoured with the ICONIC Achievers Award for his work in solar thermal solutions, alongside his son. This recognition highlights their groundbreaking contributions to the development and implementation of solar concentrator technologies, including the BIGDISH, which has evolved from early prototypes to the final 500 m² solution. Deepak’s award also underscores the importance of teamwork and collaboration, with credit shared among Sunrise CSP India, its global team, the Australian National University where the BIGDISH originated, and the Muni Seva Ashram, where solar technologies power critical community services. But this episode shifts the focus to solar energy’s potential to deliver direct heat for industrial and community use—technologies that don’t require the intermediate step of electrification.
