Rigas Arvanitis is Franco-Greek sociologist and research director of Institute of Research for Development (IRD) in France, director (since 2019) of the Centre Population et Développement (IRD-University Paris Descartes). He has field experience in Latin America (Venezuela and Mexico), China and Arab countries. He is a founding member of the Institut Francilien Recherche Innovation et Société and was its director (2015-2018). He was editor-in-chief (2007-2014) of the Revue d’anthropologie des connaissances. He was posted in Lebanon at the National Council for Scientific Research of Lebanon (CNRS-L) and was a visiting professor at the American University of Beirut (AUB) where he led a project on knowledge production in the Arab World with Dr. Hanafi. Previously, his work focused on technological learning in enterprises and the study of technology transfer, research and innovation policies and economic development. He is interested in research funding methods, the transformation of research systems in the South and forms of scientific collaboration. ماريز قلاده أستاذ مساعد مصرية لدراسات الميديا في الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت. حصلت على الدكتوراه في الانثروبولوجيا والماجستير في الميديا من جامعة براون في الولايات المتحدة بالإضافة إلى الماجستير في علم الاجتماع والأنثروبولوجيا من الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة. تركز أبحاثها على اقتصاديات العمل والسياسية في القطاعات الثقافية والإبداعية في مصر ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط. مشروع كتابها الحالي يعتمد على إثنوغرافيا لعمال السينما والتليفزيون في مصر، ويحلل كيف يشكل الاقتصاد النيوليبرالي للصناعة تجارب العمال من حيث هشاشة العمل، والتضامن،و الذاتية السياسية لهم. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، بدأت مشروعًا ثانيًا يدرس الاقتصاديات الرقمية ونماذج الإنتاج والتوزيع للمنصات مثل نتفليكس وشاهد وتأثيرها على إنتاج وسائل الإعلام البصرية خاصة الخيال العلمي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا. تم نشر أعمالها في المجلة الدولية لعلم الاجتماع، ومجلة الدراسات السينمائية والإعلامية سينوبتيك ، ومجلة الجمعية الأنثروبولوجية في أكسفورد. تعمل قلاده أيضا على فيلم تجريبي اثنوغرافي يستند على بحث رسالة الدكتوراه و يتمحور حول إشكاليات وتناقضات “الفن” و”العمل". قبل انضمامها للجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت , كانت قلاده زميلة ما بعد الدكتوراه في ملتقى الدراسات العبر- إقليمية في برلين. منذ عام 2010، عملت قلاده في القطاع الثقافي بالقاهرة، بدءًا من إدارة المشاريع والأبحاث وحتى إنتاج الأفلام، وهي أحد مؤسسي مجموعة ق.ل. و هي مجموعة بحثية ومناصرة تعمل على تحسين بيئات العمل وظروف العمل للعاملين في القطاع الثقافي في مصر.

Stéphane Dufoix is Professor of Sociology at the University of Paris-Nanterre (Sophiapol research center) and a Senior member of the Institut universitaire de France. He also teaches about world sociologies in the doctoral curriculum of the University of Paris and at the EHESS. His research focus includes globalization theory, historical sociology of social science, sociological and historical semantics of concepts, and political sociology of national identity discourses. Among his recent publications: Le Tournant global des sciences sociales (co-edited with Alain Caillé), 2013 ; Pierre Bourdieu dans l’espace des disciplines (co-ed. with Christian Laval), 2018. Décolonial, 2023. For about years, he has been the co-coordinator (with Eric Macé and now with Marie Salaün), of a seminar devoted to non-hegemonic world sociology that is being hosted by the Collège d’études mondiales (FMSH) and the Global Research Institute of Paris (University of Paris). He has been interested in the history of sociology in the Arab world and generally speaking his work is so relevant to the Arab world. His two forthcoming books are: Transnational History of Sociology (Palgrave-McMillan); How to decolonize Sociology (Sage).
