Acerca de esta escucha
Zeru Zeru Girl is a heart-wrenching and heart-warming story about Alex, a young woman with albinism who was smuggled out of Africa to the U.S. as an infant because her condition made her the target of witch doctors who maim and kill people with albinism for the magical properties of their body parts. Alex is adopted and raised by a loving couple in Southern California and later becomes an attorney for an international human rights organization. She is careful to keep secret the inexplicable visions of what later turn out to be traumatic scenes from her infancy, which keep her searching for her birth parents. She is joined on her journey by Seth, a colleague who is an Ethiopian Jew rescued at the age of ten by the Israeli Defense Force during Operation Solomon. Zeru Zeru Girl is a thought-provoking story that will transport listeners to Tanzania, Ethiopia, England, and Syria. It raises awareness and encourages listeners to contemplate how they can make a positive difference.

Absorbing unique story full of insights
I really enjoyed this book because it brought to life the experiences of people who are not very visible— struggles of albino people in Africa and its connection with ancient witchcraft traditions and prejudices and Ethiopian Jews. Its depiction of life in the Israeli army, law school in the US and international human rights work was very real.
