In this fascinating book, Dr. Dominic M. Etli takes readers on an illuminating journey through the ethical labyrinths of modern medicine, drawing unexpected connections to the ancient wisdom of the samurai.
Blending vivid storytelling with philosophical insights, Dr. Etli reveals how timeless concepts like mindfulness, compassion, honor and justice from Zen, Bushido and the Hagakure provide invaluable guidance for today's ethical challenges in healthcare.
Through in-depth analysis and compelling real-world case studies, the book explores essential healthcare ethics topics such as:
The critical role of mindfulness and presence in clinical decision-making
Striking the complex balance between compassion and justice

This is a winner!
I know this sounds dry and boring but it really wasn't. My only complaint was that I wish more details would have been added to the true life story parts, as it seemed that the writer really wanted to add as many items as possible before the book ended.

Great topics
This book is told by giving you an ethical dilemma and a made up story about this issue, then an explanation of why this should or shouldn't be done and a real story with that ethical issue happening

I really enjoyed
The narration was top notch and I really enjoyed this one. It really sounded as if he thought that they couldn't and wouldn't close everything down for the greater good.

perfect for medical students
Every chapter was so relevant to what we’re learning in medical school today and I would recommend it to anyone student or qualified in the healthcare profession because it highlights the importance of communication which is essential to all.
