This is the first installment in Blade and Avery’s story and can be listened to before book one if desired.
I promised I'd only show her the friend she’s yearning for, but my heart will never stop aching for more.
I bite my lip to quiet the curse word I feel like yelling at myself. I had no other way. Being without her felt like death. I knew it was wrong the entire time. There was no other way though. I had no other way to see her, feel close to her, hear how her life was. It was worth it to do wrong, just to feel just the tiniest bit close to her again.
I’m not sure I wouldn’t do it again honestly. I’m not sure I could truly be sorry about doing it at all. I’d follow her to the depths of the earth just to have a glimpse of her. To see that she’s happy, taken care of...while I dream about more alone in my room.
Blade:
I never meant to let it go that far, but the way her body folded into mine, needing me in every capacity that night set me on fire...and she's been gone ever since.
It's not for lack of trying. Believe me, I've tried to get her back. She won't have anything to do with me. But after four years, I think I finally found the one thing that will bring her home.
The question is, can I convince her to stay? Convince her that we can be just friends again? Stepsister and stepbrother...
Now I just have to convince my heart to play along with that theory.
Avery:
I'd loved him since the moment I set eyes on him, but since our parents got married, my right to have him as anything more than a brother was forfeited.
I had done a pretty good job convincing everyone I was a good little stepsister...until my mom died and I needed him. I needed Blade like I never needed anything before. I needed to numb the pain. I needed to forget for a night; and, when I woke up that shame-filled morning after, I knew I had to get out of town fast...and college was the perfect excuse.
I hadn't talked to him in four long years, until this morning, when I found out dad died. That man loved me like I was his own and now he was gone. No matter the issues between Blade and me, I couldn't let him go through that alone.
I guess I was going to have to go home and face the music for my heinous actions. I had hopes that Blade and I could move past it, that we could become family again. We were all we had left in the world.
I just prayed to God my heart played along.
You Were Always Mine is book two in The Possessive Billionaire Series.
This series is a mixture of standalone romances, sequels, and trilogies that will have the characters intertwining more and more as they go.
This series follows a group of guys, who went to an elite private school together upstate NY, and the lives they lead now. Each book is about a different person and their love story; however, these men will make appearances in other books because they are all still involved in each other’s lives.
Book two is a novella with a slight cliff-hanger.
