Really like this novel. The characters are well developed. In fact, the novel is more of a character study than anything else. Scenery decriptions are also well done.Nothing about the characters or the scenery descriptions is forced. All of this is well punctuated with thoroughly and smoothly detailed fight sequences.

The narration was unadorned. Actually, it was more like dispassionate reading, a bit robotic. The performance wasn't bad at all; I just expected more.

Performance: Andrew Tell delivered a great performance 5 out of 5.
Story: I dont want to make any spoilers, but the story line in this book was very satisfying; or at least it was to me. Main characters are memorable and are very likeable. Main bad guys are complex enough to have a rational explanation for their action rather than traditional "Im gonna destroy the world because Im evil". I recommend this trilogy big time.

Nicely done. New characters were introduced while existing characters and storyline were further developed. Not the page turner of book one but still satisfying. Looking forward to book three!

Seems to be based on Japanese samurai, though that is never stated, it has the feel of it. A more oriental voice or intonation would have been more compatible.

The book overall was good but for me not excellent. It has its charms and yet just lacked some of the appeal others in this genre have. Not sure if I will finish the series yet or not. Seems a bit predictable.
