The Witch's Reign...a land of unnatural hellish cold ruled over by the Ice Witch herself, who is in turn guarded by three creatures - Wolf, Bear, and Raven. Those lovely beasts derive their power directly from their mistress and just happen to kill any who cross their paths. To get there, you first must pass through the Dragon's Ground. Full of, you guessed it, dragons who for the record, also do not like trespassers.

Sounds like a fun place to go, doesn't it?

Yeah, not so much.

You see the thing is my best friend, Darcy was sent with a team into the Witch's Reign to recover a powerful jewel that belongs to our mentor, and they are long overdue to come back.

That leaves me, Zamira "Reckless" Wilson to go after my friend because no one else will.

Somehow, I get saddled with a human - a male no less! - tagging along for the ride. A human that is as weak and useless as my shifting abilities.

Throw in a weapon that might be trying to kill me, and a small dragon that has a penchant for Shakespearean insults, and you've got my life in a nutshell.

May the sands of the desert swallow me whole because this is going to be a friggin bumpy ride.

Zam, Maks, and Lila are some of my favorite characters. I love the Shakespearen insults! This book is a nonstop adventure. I love seeing how each series connects in some way. Such an awesome story that you can't help loving the characters!

Lauren Fortgang is an amazing narrator and I love listening to her.

Zam is a strong female lead. i was already a fan of both the author and narratrix. This series is a multi-layered story that unravels a little at a time, just giving away enough to make the plotline work. It's almost pure Fantasy, but there is enough real-world subject matter to make it Urban Fantasy. By the time i got to the end of this book, i was hooked.

I love this audiobook series!! Lauren Fortgang does a fabulous job narrating this series. She’s a fabulous narrator that and allows the listener to get lost in the world that the author had created. Great world building!! Zam is the main character who keeps finding herself in trouble. Full of action and fast paced! Absolutely love it!! Discover new places with just one click.

This is just a great start into a promising series, with so many surprises and the development of a deep friendship ahead. I love Zam and her travel companions, how they overcome all those obstacles to reach a common goal. What a team. I have a feeling they will be back and stronger than before. Great story and awesome narration! Off to the next to be enchanted by the desert cursed series over and over again!

great overall Story, characters are really well done, but there were a few inconsistencies with certain abilities or curses and I thought it was on. but overall I liked it and I cannot wait to read the other books

NO SPOILERS. Have you ever read/listen to a book that took hold of you and you couldn't put it down??. This is that book. The world and characters were built perfectly. There is so much suspense and action you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time. Throw in a dash of budding romance and laughs yes sadness too and you have a VERY WELL written book. Highly recommend. The writing is your first treat. If you have not had the pleasure of Ms Fortgand that is the best treat of all. She can bring a book to LIFE. I mean that literally. Each character has there own unique voice and there done with a crisp smooth voice told with so much emotion and feeling. Frankly the BEST narration I've ever listen to. Don't miss out. Both Mayer and Fortgang are master's at what they do combine them and you truly have one of the best books available to you. GET IT NOW. Enjoy the ride.

Action and adventure. The characters are great. I love how even the horses had so much personality. There were some surprises and twists. The narrator does a fantastic job on this book. Sometimes it felt like there were several people telling the story. I enjoyed listening.

First ever audio book!! i think i am hooked this was such a great one to start off with.. only down side is the other 2 books in the series are not yet on audible.. so i must wait..but it definaly hook me to this Author.. not really a book reader sp this is great!!!
