Acerca de esta escucha

When a scavenger captain offers her an unusual job in the middle of nowhere, Delphine accepts and tags along. But will she manage to get the treasure they're looking for when she has to operate a seadrone all by herself? When the treasure is buried in a spaceship graveyard two miles under water? And when the challenges she faces go beyond her wildest fears?

This story was inspired by Point Nemo, a place located as far away from land as possible where spaceships go to die.

Great

This is a very well written short science fiction story. The ideas and main characters are interesting enough to be developed into a much longer story. The narrator has an excellent voice range.

Imaginative short sci-fi

In the middle of the Pacific is a spot farthest from any land mass. This is the chosen spot of a spaceship graveyard, where old space shifts are crashed to ensure that no one is hurt when they come down. It is also a great spot for scavengers to visit, to collect technologies in said crashed ships. And that’s what brings Delphine here, to scavenger from the ships.

Despite only being 30 minutes long there is a lot packed into this story. We only get glimpse of what is going on outside the small scope of the story, but it is told in such a way as to hint at a much wider world. Concepts that build to make the world feel complete: a spaceshift graveyard, aliens, AI, avatars, moving consciousness to other bodies, and more.

The story is tightly told. Possibly a little too tight, as you have to fill in the gaps here and there for what is not conveyed clearly. Explanations of the technology is not there, and particularly the consciousness movement and avatars is not completely clear at first. But while it does make the reader work a little more, it isn’t a difficult thing to follow. The ending is open ended as well. No complete resolution, just a path with options. It feels unfinished, but I think it actually works well for the story.

Narration by Luke Rounda is good. He is clear and well paced. He provided voices and accents for each of the characters, which helped with keeping who was talking and what was going on clear. For such a short piece he was able to show his range really well. Happy with his work and would listen to more by him

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.

A lot packed into a tiny story

Well-written short scifi story that kept my interest from start to finish, rooting for the main character. It also made me want a sequel, for I’d like to know how our MC is faring nowadays...

Nice SF story with a twist

Where a Spaceship Goes to Die (An Antigravel Short Story) by George Saoulidis and narrated by Luke Rounda is an unusual story you want more of. If you enjoy future tech stories, this is one for you.

What’s it about? Delphine is a temp who goes to a job where she uses a virtual machine to dive. You get humor, AI, Avatars, bad guys, search for a sunken treasure, and more (all I’m saying due to spoilers). The ending is left open for a future possibility and I do hope it happens.

The narrator, Luke Rounda, did a good job. He was easy-to-listen to. I have no complaints.

Overall I recommend, especially if you are looking for a future tech tale.

Parental guidance/trigger warnings: mention of a sex toy, some swearing (minimal), double entendres- leaving this as is due to spoilers.

As the title suggests, "Where a Spaceship Goes to Die" is a salvage story. It's a very simple premise with very little worldbuilding or setup - there are spaceships. Sometimes they fail, and it's easiest to crash on Earth (As opposed to one of the other 8 planetoids in the Sol system, most of which appear to be uninhabited. Anyways, spaceship crashes, and our hero goes in to stea-er I mean 'recover' a diplomatic pouch, and hijinks ensue.

Great performance. The narration and sound effects made forget I was listening to a book. I thought I was listening to a movie. Can't wait for the author to build upon this story and see what happens next. Very interest lines for plot threads. As much as I enjoyed the book the audible was better.
Simply, a great listen.
