Acerca de esta escucha
A feisty sailor with forbidden magic. A golden heir with a secret love. When they head out to find a legendary treasure and change their stars, their lives change forever.
Kinneret is scraping out a low-caste living. Barely.
It doesn't help that she has a fiery temper, or that she secretly practices forbidden salt magic to control the sea. None of that will keep her and her younger sister fed.
And it won't keep Calev, the Chairman's son, close to her either. Their childhood friendship is tolerated, but when they come of age it will have to end. She can't let Calev be outcast for her sake. She loves him too much.
The only real solution to all Kinneret's problems is to rise above her station, so when a family friend offers her a map to the mythical island of silver, she will risk it all to seek a treasure lost to the seas for over 300 years.
Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, Tamora Pierce, and Sabaa Tahir!

"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Great story; needs a good edit
I started out listening to the audiobook and really had a hard time, so I switched to the ebook on kindle unlimited. It was easier to read than to listen to, but I still ended up dnf-ing it at 25%
The story was unique and very interesting, and normally I would have continued it but it definitely needs editing and by 25% the writing overwhelmed the story for me and I couldn't make myself continue.
The audiobook narrator wasn't my favorite but she also wasn't terrible. Her voice combined with the writing style just made it difficult for me to listen.
Story: 4 stars
Writing style: 2 stars
Audiobook narrator: 3 stars
Overall: 3 stars

A fun listen
This was an interesting take on a sea dependent people along with a caste system. I really liked the main character even if at times I wanted to punch her. She really loved her family and did what she thought was best for them. I loved the culture and magic though I wish we could have learned about more of it and why certain things were important. I especially want to know more about the salt magic since it was fascinating. I want to know what other stories this world has to offer and what will happen next for these characters. I loved their struggles and the relationships people formed. I would definitely recommend this book to people since it was a fun and fast listen.

What a great ride!!
Wow!! This is a fast paced fantasy book. It involves witches, monsters, magic, slaves, and forbidden love!!
This world is so different than anything that I have read and I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. My only complaint is that at times some of the plot felt a bit rushed but I enjoyed it.
I listened to the audiobook and I would highly recommend downloading the High Quality version. The narrator is fabulous as well!!

An uncommonly good fantasy adventure story
Waters of Salt and Sin is an exceptional novel set in a deep and complex fantasy world rich with traditional eastern culture elements. The protagonist, a low-born sailor named Kinneret, is locked within a caste system where those born into slavery may buy their way to higher standing with silver. Kinneret seeks little more than a safe and secure life for herself and her little sister and aims to use her sailing skills to earn enough silver to buy their way into a higher caste. Sailing is a dangerous and challenging trade, as those that die at sea are cursed to haunt the oceans as salt wraiths and prey on any living mortals brave (or foolish) enough to remain on the oceans during the night.
The story combines several genres. It is a coming-of-age story that combines action, adventure, romance, and low fantasy into a strong and compelling narrative. Kinneret is a strong heroine and leader, but her flaws, insecurities, and vulnerabilities make her a relatable and lovable character you'll find yourself drawn to. The other characters who support Kinneret, like Oron and Calev, are just as well written, though perhaps not quite as deep and intricately detailed as Kinneret. Overall, the dialog is snappy, the pacing makes the book hard to put down, and the plot is expertly spun from a series of smaller story arcs that keep the reader interested. The book is also part of a series but thankfully does not end on a cliff hanger, making it an excellent introduction to this exciting and well-developed world.
At the beginning of the book, the reader is immediately immersed in the unfamiliar culture and society of Jakobden, which can be a bit jarring and confusing, but as the story progresses, more and more of the fascinating setting is described. I mention this to encourage readers not to be discouraged if they can't immediately sort out everything going at the start -- it'll all come together soon. I cannot find many flaws with Waters of Salt and Sin, which makes it an exceptional example of the growing number of successful indie, self-published authors.
Though it's identified in the teen and young adult category, the book delves into a few dark places as it skirts topics such as slavery, rape, and torture. Nothing explicit is gratuitous or described in detail. Still, those sensitive to such things could be bothered by the iniquitous treatment of slaves and other low born in a caste society.
The audiobook version of Waters of Salt and Sin is narrated by the talented Heather Costa, whose natural voice is perfect for any feisty heroine. The complex characters really allow Costa to demonstrate her ability to create unique voices that capture each character's personality. Overall, she's an excellent narrator, and this book was a perfect fit for her talent.

a great fast and fun read!
I originally purchased this book as a kindle book, but received an audiobook from the author to review.
This book was a great fast and fun read. The characters were very diverse and intriguing. The romantic lead is flawed but still very impressive. The main character is ambitious and strong. And the story had many twists and turns, danger, romance, and trials.
The narrator does an amazing job of telling the story. She definitely seems to be interested and engrossed in the story which adds to the overall storytelling experience. Definitely recommend this book on audio!
