On June 5, 1983, Henry Lee Lucas was arrested for the unauthorised possession of a handgun. The police believed that he was linked to the disappearance of two females, so they used the opportunity to apply pressure and encourage a confession. After four days in custody, Lucas confessed to killing the two women.

What transpired in the following months was both peculiar and fascinating. Lucas confessed to murdering, raping, and mutilating hundreds more women with his friend and lover, Ottis Toole, whilst under the influence of a satanic cult.

But there were hidden depths to the revelations. Upon further inspection, investigators found that Lucas confessed to crimes that directly contradicted others, casting doubt over what was fact and fiction.

Lucas had the answers. Could they uncover the truth?

The research was excellent! Acting was superb! I liked this book. Mr. Green did a good job of getting into the history of Henry Lucas and his short-time cohort Ottis Toole. Again—I cannot say it enough—he also did a good job of imagining the crimes as they had happened from the viewpoints of the criminals! They’d probably confess to assassinating JFK if they thought it would benefit them!

Ottis Toole and Henry Lee Lucas confessions only screw with your mind.

Trust Me: The True Story of Confession Killer Henry Lee Lucas (True Crime) was a good read by Ryan Green. Henry Lee Lucas was arrested on June 5, 1983 for unauthorized possession of a hand gun. The police applied pressure to him because they believed that he was linked to the disappearance of two girls. He was in their custody for four days and wound up confessing to the killings. In the next few months, he confessed to hundreds of more murders. This was a good read into a bizarre and gruesome true crime story. I really enjoy listening to Ryan Green's true crime audio books and can't wait to read more by the author.

Gripping and frightening that people this evil can live amidst society for years without detection.
And don't believe these type of criminals aren't out there now.
Ryan Green is in my opinion one of the best true crime writers around.
Steve White's narration is first class and he portrays the fear and tension in a respectful and true way.

This was a quality work of true crime. There were times that the unsettling content was more than a little hard to listen to. I hope the narrator knew what he was getting himself into. I haven't heard anything from this author before. I'm glad to see that he writes a lot of true crime and I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

This one started off a little weirder than the other books I have read of Ryan Green’s – but I quickly understood where he was going. I don’t remember ever hearing about Henry Lee Lucas or Ottis Toole before. They both seemed to have had horrific childhoods, so I am sure that really had a lot to do with the repulsive human beings they grew up to be. A couple of best buddies and liars. They killed for sport and had no regrets. I read these true crime books because I am trying to understand why these killers do what they do. The author does a great job providing insight into the minds of these serial killers.

Ryan Green has a gift for presenting the most horrifically deviant personalities in an insightful and compelling way offering the reader/listener a chance to experience the subject’s own perspective of their unconscionable actions. While this does nothing to mitigate the heinousness of the crimes detailed in his books, it does allow for some understanding of the confluence of events, both physical and psychological, which can culminate in the creation of a true monster. This story detailing the lives of Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole is no exception. Both men experienced horrific and unconventional childhoods and both men became exceptional examples of lives gone horribly wrong. I have no doubt that an abundant amount of painstaking research of timelines, of police and court documents, of interview transcripts and probably much more went into creating this account, but it is the keen psychological insights that I feel set this book apart from others dealing with these two notorious killers. Obviously, the author was not physically present to hear the private conversations between the people in this book but his relentless scrutiny of every aspect of their lives and actions allow him to indulge in some speculation with a reasonable expectation of a certain degree of accuracy. The result is a highly informative account of their actions coupled with incisive speculation about their driving motivations all presented in a highly readable format that true crime enthusiasts are sure to enjoy.

The narrator, Steve White, offered the perfect delivery of this fact-filled, fast-paced account of the unthinkably reprehensible events in the lives of two truly appalling individuals.

Unlike many other true crime books, this one is written from the point of view of the killer(s). I like that different take on the genre. I says killer plural since 2 killers are discussed, Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole. This is a maybe true, maybe fictionalized account of their lives, crimes & confessions. It covers the span from their early childhood abuses to the wicked web they weaved once they joined forces. This point of view helped get inside the killer's mind, which is why I read true crime in the first place.

I would recommend this one. I also like the narrator for these. Helps bring the story to life.

First, I have to start off by stating that I got this book free of charge in exchange for a review, but as I always state, this does not in any way impact my review. My reviews are always honest and my own.

"Trust Me" is the very disturbing true story of Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole, two men raised in dysfunctional families. Meeting as adults, they formed a partnership that began the trail to many horrific crimes. This book will leave you pondering the question of "nature vs nurture". A must-read for true crime followers.
