Acerca de esta escucha
Forget everything you think you know about psychedelics. They’re not punchlines. They’re not party favors for aging hippies. Instead, as Alex Abraham discovered, they are an innovative approach that can help heal trauma and chronic pain.
Trauma and Ecstasy takes a long, hard look at pain, from the sudden unexplained pelvic floor discomfort that afflicted Alex at the end of a trip abroad to the deeply rooted anxiety and shame of a childhood robbed of innocence. In this powerful and courageous memoir, Alex takes you on his journey of healing from sexual abuse while searching for answers to his health issues that traditional medicine failed to explain or treat.
Trauma and Ecstasy is quite likely the most engaging, honest, and compelling memoir of surviving childhood sexual trauma you’ll ever read. It offers the hope of real help for healing from the emotional and physical aftermath of abuse and chronic pain.

Just another normal guy
I met Alex randomly in Austin, Texas and I never would have imagined he had experienced such terrible things and was bearing the emotional and physical ales of it all. He seemed like just another normal guy.
Hearing his very personal and traumatic story and how he faced it years later was eye opening. Anyone could be a victim of horrible acts. You can never understand what someone's been through or going through on the surface.

Helpful for repressed memories
No other book has helped me deal with repressed memories like this book has. So glad it has been written.

Recommended by Alex’s Mom
I discovered this book from a Reddit comment made by none other than: Alex’s Mom.
Very glad I decided to check this book out, as it is similar to my own healing journey with Psychedelics

Crucial trauma conversation!!
As someone who is recovering from past childhood trauma, this book was an absolute Godsend. So many men tend to shy away from the topics discussed by Alex in this book, but the conversation is crucial for healing. This book is gritty, and it should be. Alex covers topics regarding male childhood trauma in only the way a survivor can. Creatively written and eye opening. Highly recommend this book for friends and families of trauma survivors as well!!

This will become a very important resource for healing!
This book has so many layers that’s connected to many different types of healing. Alex is the bravest person I have yet to meet. Talking about abuse and especially Men as victims is so rare and so needed in our society. MEN ARE ABUSED TOO, a lot in fact. I’ve been in trauma therapy for 10 years and reading this book helped me shift to blockages that I need to address. Alex’s honesty with his experience will become an example and give courage to so many others. I really hope that people and especially Men are brave enough to read it. Otherwise, these men aren’t healing, they’re dying or worse repeating the cycle. THANK YOU ALEX!
