Reseñas de la Crítica
"Get ready for loosely connected, bawdy stories about the author and his outrageous friends. Some tales come from the oil rigs Carter worked on, but most take place in bars, where misogynistic alpha males drown themselves in a sea of liquor. How about the one where a bloke with a glass eye pops it into someone's beer, and the crowd waits until the victim quaffs the last ounce to see it staring at him from the bottom of his glass? Carter narrates the audiobook in his working-class Australian accent, loaded with the national vocabulary of 'mates', 'queuing', 'boiled sweets', and 'rubbing one out' (think gas). His rapid narrative style leaves the listener little time to ponder the novel metaphors, similes, and analogies." (AudioFile Magazine)
I love the dark humour in the midst of dangerous locations coupled with the sprinkled reminder of human decency and tenacity. I am pretty sure that Paul’s digestive tract deserves some sort of medal by now!
If you’ve been weighing up this book, this author, and you’ve found yourself at this review. Trust me - download now! But make sure you clear your diary out first. You won’t be doing much for a few hours.
Sheer brilliance

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
After reading Paul's first book and enjoying that I thought I'd give this one a go, however it's rubbish! the lies in the story are too obvious and Paul's prose just becomes very boring. There is no memorable moments in this book, no funny moments or story's just a long boring oil field tale.
I worked with Paul on the job in Russia (Sedco 600 and Transocean Legend) and worked with Ambo as recently as six months ago. Just skip this book it's not worth the time to read it.
Has This is Not a Drill turned you off from other books in this genre?
