This book captured my attention from the beginning. Maya is running from her present life and Torin is haunted by his past. When she is found as a stowaway with her daughter on Torin’s boat, he instantly knows she is running from something or someone. I loved to hear the progression in these characters! The emotion, the healing, and the character growth was incredible!

This was my first experience listening to both Janine and Troy. The deep timber to Troy’s voice was so nice for Torin! I also felt like Janine was a perfect fit for Maya, and her kid voice was fantastic! This dual narration was so well done!

This book by Ria Wilde already was amazing! But hearing them come to life was just everything! The Narrators did an amazing job bringing them to life! Definitely listen to this one!

The way this book ripped my heart out at the 2% mark set the stage for an amazing, emotional journey. I was hooked from the start and there was never a moment that I wasn't fully invested in this story. Torin is what book boyfriend dreams are made of. He has taken the whole alpha possessive vibe to a whole new level because he has what it takes to back up that attitude. After Maya and her daughter show up on his boat he tries to "grumpy" his way into ignoring her but these two were destined from the start.  Maya is such a strong FMC and is fighting to change her life and protect her daughter from the ghosts of her past. There was so much tension and angst throughout the entire book that I felt like I had been on an emotional roller coaster.

I read this book originally as an ebook when it first released but listening to the audiobook adds to the experience and brings this emotional story to a whole other level of angsty.

Troy Duran has the perfect voice to perform Torin and truly encompass his broodiness. The emotion and despair comes through in droves and you just feel the heartbreak, confusion, desire and care in every scene. Janine Granda’s voice is beautiful and so easy to listen to. She performs Maya’s character flawlessly and every small nuance is appreciated as she really delivers on the emotional performance. When she voices Harper my heart just swells for the little girl’s character.
 
I cannot wait to continue this series. I love this town, love these characters and will be first in line to pick up Rett's story when it releases because I have a feeling these brothers are only going to get better. New Ria Wilde fan for life!!

I really enjoyed the flow of this book. There were never any moments where a past or even present action was overly done. I didn’t find this overly dark either, maybe more a charcoal gray bc of the subject matter. Torrin and his brothers definitely have an interesting background and it’ll be interesting to see what is learned through the series. I loved the small town trope to this and how welcoming everyone is and accepting. The narration was spectacular. Troy always does Alpha male really well. His voice just commands protective tendencies and he really gets into the reading. Every sigh or breathe or whatever descriptor the character has he puts that into his narration and it just elevates it like he’s having the convo with you. Janine does a great job of projecting her characters as well. She really gets into the feeling they are having and brings them to life. Her kid voice is great too.

I'm becoming a huge Ria Wilde fan. I loved this audiobook. The narration was so good. Troy Duran is amazing as always and this is my first narration by Janine Granda and definitely not the last. Action packed. Please check triggers. I can't wait to continue the series.

These Rough Waters is the first audiobook in Ria Wilde’s new Ravenpeak Bay series. And let me tell you, this series is starting off with a bang! Ria Wilde is extremely adept at bringing us romances that deliver on the action AND on the feels. This audiobook had me in tears from the jump, so check the trigger warnings before listening. But if you do listen, you are in for a treat!

Torin and Maya are both running from turbulent and painful pasts, and romance is the last thing on either of their minds. Nevertheless, they are inexplicably drawn together. Although they both fight it, their love will not be denied. And when their traumatic pasts morph into a very real and present danger, that love might just be what saves them. This second chance, grumpy/sunshine, small town, romantic suspense love story completely captured my heart. It had pretty much everything this romance listener could ever possibly want in a story:
Grumpy, sexy, protective lumberjack of a man? Check.
Strong, beautiful, caring single mom? Check.
Adorably precocious little girl? Check.
Small town vibe? Check.
Witty and entertaining brotherly banter? Check.
Intrigue and suspense? Check.
Swoonworthy romance and spicy love scenes? Check and double-check!

And Ria Wilde’s incredible text is beautifully brought to life with the superb narrative performances of Troy Duran and Janine Granda. There aren’t many male narrators out there who can pull off that gruff, sexy lumberjack vibe better than Troy Duran. He effortlessly delivers all the emotion and passion the character of Torin demands, all in that signature deep, gravelly tone of his that completely captivates the listener. And Janine Granda’s enthralling, melodic tone only adds to her impassioned and moving performance as Maya. Together, they make this gripping and poignant love story a must-listen for any romance audio lover.

This is the first book in the Ravenpeak Bay series. Maya and her daughter Harper are running from a very abusive man. Torin is trying to hide from his past. Torin has shut himself off from the world. He has very little interaction with people in town. Torin is a fisherman and lives on a small island. Maya and Harper stowed away on his boat during their escape. They start a life in this small island town completely off the grid. Life keeps putting them in the other’s path. This book may contain triggers for some people. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Janine Granda and Troy Duran did a phenomenal job narrating this book.
