Murder, magic, and mayhem—with a side of cake and a hooting owl.
Welcome to Whittlecombe, a village so quaint even the ghosts can’t bear to leave. At the heart of it sits the Wonky Inn—a crumbling, magical haven inherited by one Alfhild Daemonne, a witch with spectacularly unpredictable powers and an owl familiar named Mr Hoo who thinks he knows best (and often does).
In The Wonkiest Witch, Alf’s plans to quietly settle in are rudely interrupted by a corpse on the patio, a nosey village full of secrets and a sudden need to remember how magic actually works. Spoiler: it doesn’t go well.
Then come The Ghosts of Wonky Inn, and they aren’t just rattling chains—they want answers. Alf must put the kettle on, muster some courage, and coax secrets out of the dead. Tea helps. So does brandy.
A vampire wedding at the Wonky Inn? What could go wrong? When Alf agrees to host the supernatural ceremony, chaos arrives with the guests. As secrets surface and tempers flare, a shocking murder threatens to turn “I do” into “whodunnit?”
Things get darker in Fearful Fortunes and Terrible Tarot, where a psychic fair promises enlightenment but delivers murder. Alf goes undercover (badly) to uncover the source of the sinister predictions. Mr Hoo recommends she stay home. She doesn’t.
Finally, in The Mystery of the Marsh Malaise, Alf must save Whittlecombe from a creeping sickness, a disappearing fiancé, and something ancient waking in the mist. No pressure, then.
This five-book series is packed with ghostly shenanigans, eccentric villagers, dodgy potions, and one very judgmental owl. Perfect for fans of paranormal cozy mysteries with a British twist, bumbling but brilliant witches, and stories where magic is wonky, murder is messy, and tea is practically a character. Expect haunted hedgerows, enchanted cakes, and villagers who gossip as fiercely as they hex. Check in to Wonky Inn—where every spell comes with complications, and every mystery is wickedly good fun.
