I really enjoyed reading this book, and totally understand the description of DND vibes. While much of the story has a comfortable degree of predictability, it is unique and definitely not like anything I’ve read before. And though this was distinctly a cozy read for me, it has moments that are very energizing and make the book particularly engaging. Overall, it is such a fun and comfortably balanced read, from pacing and intensity to characters and relationships.
The wild cast of characters is so much fun and has an excellent balance of personalities and representation. Marcia is lovably damaged, smart, and too strong for her own good. She’s the kind of FMC you absolutely want to see triumph and find happiness. And Luthri is a wonderfully rakish MMC that balances fiery passion to Mar’s icy disposition. [They are honestly such an adorable pair, once the initial bravado and posturing cools a bit.] The banter is SO witty and funny throughout, but especially with these two. The side characters are lovable and the perfect found family, working their way into her heart, and the readers’. Yrra is my absolute favorite- he’s so shy and strong (though silently so), and I want to hug him and protect him at all costs.
Everything about this book just made me happy, and I had such a good time reading. I am really excited to see what comes next in this series! If you’re looking for a book (or series of interconnected stand-alones) that you can kick back and just have a cozy and fun time reading, I’d definitely recommend this series!
