Terrific plot, excellent narration, remarkable characters. A highlight of this truly enjoyable series. Highly recommended!

One of the best of this series

The book relies on everyone's favorite stereotypically stupid and venal characters from the deep south. As such, they're well-presented and act as one might well imagine. The story is engaging enough, and the reader is good at doing accents of stupid, inbred redneck hick southerners . . . but wouldn't it be nice if these weren't the basis for the drama?

I really love the Quinn Colson novels and this is a truly wonderful entry in the series. I missed Lillie Virgil, though she was in a few parts of it along the way, but I'm hoping that she returns m fully to the fold sooner than later, if not maybe her own series. This is a very good read and this series continues to grow in depth of characters and overall scope.

There is always an over abundance of bad guys for such a small Mississisippi town and the same lovable good guys who pursue them. The language contains more swear words than I like, but you accept that this is the way that real criminals and trash lace their language with expletives. Most place names in the story are actual names of towns and landmarks in Mississippi. This won't be the last in the Colson seeries, I'm sure.

Quinn Colson has little depth. He’s definitely not charismatic. This series is all about the bad guys having charm. I actually think I may me more interesting than Quinn and I’m boring.

Had to actually turn this story off. Don’t do that very often—only once that I can remember. I have listened to stories where one or two of the characters used 4 letter words incessantly but in this story it is every character. And it is constant. Just too much for me. My husband didn’t like that aspect, but he liked the story and would have continued. I just couldn’t.

Too much gutter language

The story was good, the narration was good, but there was unnecessary political talk.... Conservatives are bad, illegal immigrants are good, Trump is bad, which added nothing to the story and makes me consider not buying any more Ace Atkins books.
