Another thrilling adeventure from the number-one New York Times best-selling author. Clive Cussler's tales of the Oregon and its crew -"the clever, indefatigable Juan Cabrillo and his merry band of tough, tech-savvy fighting men and women" (Publishers Weekly) - have made fans of hundreds of thousands of readers and listeners. But the Oregon's sixth adventure is its most remarkable one yet.
On December 7, 1941, five brothers exploring a shaft on a small island off the coast of Washington State make an extraordinary discovery, only to be interrupted by news of Pearl Harbor. In the present, Cabrillo, chasing the remnants of a crashed satellite in the Argentine jungle, stumbles upon a shocking revelation of his own. His search to untangle the mystery leads him, first, to that small island and its secret, and then much farther back, to an ancient Chinese expedition - and a curse that seems to have survived for more than 500 years. If Cabrillo's team is successful in its quest, the reward could be incalculable. If not, the only reward is death.

I am always amazed at the depth of study performed to write each book. It is even more amazing to see how Cussler and his co authors make ancient facts relevant to the adventurer.
The Silent Sea unites South America and some of her political intrigues with the Antarctic and Mainland China. Smack in the middle of it all is Juan Cabreo and the crew of the Oregon. A unique twist you will find here is "Who gets the girl."
Scott Brick is marvelous as a reader. We primarily use the CD's when driving. We arrive home in the driveway and find ourselves still sitting there listening. Then we begin to speculate upon when the next trip, EVEN TO THE STORE, will be.
This is a 5 star and always will be unless...there is a sixth star added. Move it on fellas

Someone must be reading reviews, because Scott Brick seems to be trying to improve his style. He tries not to let his voice rise at the end of every sentence, and succeeds about 90% of the time. Now, if he can get a grip on tone and pacing, he could redeem himself. There was a very entertaining joke in the book, but he read it the same way he reads every other sentence. I went back and listened again, and if he'd lightened up his tone and varied his pacing, the joke would have been more enjoyable -- and the listener wouldn't miss it either.
Still, for this book, his style is acceptable. I recommend Silent Sea.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I recommend this book to all Clive Cussler fans as well as anyone who enjoys thhrillers in general. It is a taut, fast-paced story that definitely holds one's attention. I didn't want to stop listening. What other book might you compare The Silent Sea to and why?
This thriller reminds me somewhat of David Baldacci's books. However, Cussler's stories always take place in a marine setting, in this case, on the ship known as the Oregon. What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His narration brings even more excitement to this already exciting tale.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
At certain points, it definitely made my heart pound!Interesting, fast-paced Oregon Files Tale
