When I started listening to this book, I was rivited. The narrator's voice is smooth in your ear. A cinderella story, mexican style, that is both interesting, fun, juicy and even has some violence. You are taken away and can't turn it off! My favorite audiobook EVER.

I would like a stronger narration of the story. This story hit close to home. Many of the events are very similar to that of our culture. Especially when some mothers expect more from their daughters than sons.

This story is engrossing, funny, and sometimes tragic. The author has such a great style - you feel like you really know Sonia. Down to earth, entertaining, and unique.

What did you love best about The Secret Story of Sonia Rodriquez?

My 12th grade students and I read this book each year. Boys and girls alike relate to the characters and situations encountered in the text. They say, "This story is real! It sounds like my family!" I say, Alan Sitomer and Blanca Vasquez are fantastic and engagaing duo!

What about Blanca Vasquez’s performance did you like?

My students are predominately Latinos; Blanca sounds like she could be one of my students.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! In fact, I did finish it in two sittings!

Any additional comments?

Your Young Adult Literature selections are invaluable to teachers like me. My policy is to not have students read a book that I haven't "read". I listen to the stories before I turn them into assignments for my students. For my students that struggle the most, I suggest that they purchase the Audible version so that they can keep pace with their peers. Audible and books are a Win! Win! for teachers and students!
