Sad that the old narrator is not performing, however I believe Matt Bridges will get the into the grove by the next volume like Kurt did going from volume one to two.

After the first four books, book 5 of Shield hero provided some much needed levity.

A Welcomed Break

When I first was listening, was extremely impressed. I thought the voice actor/reader had finally fixed his issues and improved, he even made better differentiations of characters.
Some voices were so drastic I couldn’t believe it, however every so often he would call Filo (fee low) Filoh ( figh low). So I checked and noticed they changed the actor.

He does a great job with the reading, makes it engaging and entertaining. I think he needs to check out the manga or anime though, when he gets to Erhard (the old guy) he breathes life of a crotchety old wizard into the rough and tough blacksmith. Naofumi refers to Erhard as “old guy” because of their age gap but it’s not the voice he uses. This is a good complaint as the actor can reach all types of characters.

Therese and Filo names getting mispronounced was the only other annoying thing that would pop up.

The story is great and if you haven’t been reading the light novels, they go into deeper details and have different things from the anime (such as the end battle) which is sad because some of the things they exclude would have been awesome to have seen.

don't get me wrong this storyteller wasn't that bad but the weapon smith voice changed from rugged voice to elderly man made me disappointed in that section

The voice actor constantly says the name's wrong. he also doesn't have any vocal range he has every character sounding exactly the same male or female

I love the series. Was mad about the change in the narrator, but they did well.

the new va is better by leagues. hope they never bring kurt back. his soulless tone deaf and emotionless reading was only outdone by his mickey mouse impressions. his later performances never rose above passible and often dipped into bad. its a shame they brought in the new va on a filler part essentially. heres hoping we keep the new va going forward.

Filo pronunciation changes in between sentences kinda frustrating and takes you out of the story. Big downgrade
