Satisfying conclusion to an original story!

As the final book in the trilogy, I found that the Retribution of Mara Dyer delivered a very satisfying conclusion to the series. It delivered ample suspense, moments of of smirking levity, romance, joy, sadness, and loss. A good book should deliver emotion, and I think between the story and Romano's narration, it did that.

With that said, the final book (as with the first two books of the series) was a bit long for the plot and could have used some extra editing to speed up the pace a bit. I understand the need for chapter breaks when switching between story lines but there were not enough of those to justify 74 (yes 74!) chapters. Unfortunately, in my opinion this book lacked some great plot twists that left me with a mouth-agape look of shocked surprise. I wish Hodkin had held back more information about various characters so that the conclusion to the story didn't end as predictably as it did.

In terms of the narration, I really liked Christy Romano. Her voicing for characters was varied enough that it was easy to follow conversations. There were only two negatives: occasional mispronunciations and some rather jarring voice-overs in parts of the book.

Overall, a good book that I couldn't put down.

wel, I can't say that I loved the series but can't say I hated it either .. it is that kind of series that after a while you won't remember it at all .. Noah is another Edward with an accent but Mara was a strong character .. I loved Jamie (Jamal) he was the soul of these books .. I really wanted to know what happened to stella but I guess its an open ending there .. Daniel has always been my hero and I love him so much
I'm glad that I read the series but for me it is overhyped alot :)

Love, love,love the whole series!

So sad that the story is over, I didn't want it to end!
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, it kept me wanting more of the story. I'm usually good at figuring out where the story was going and who's the villains are but this kept me wondering until the end. Great writing! Love how it ended!!! Hope there'll be more series like this.

Ok Series

This is not my favorite YA series by any means ( check out Virals and the Electric Michael Vey) but it was ok. I really got tired of all the black out ,wake up elsewhere moments used throughout the series. It was like the author had no other way to segue into the next scene or into the memories. I know there is another trilogy about Noah but I’m skipping that one.

I don't know why audible has it in the catagory it does--- I wouldn't think this book is acceptable for such a young age group.

Best book everrr!!!!!

The dynamics between Noah and Mara are amazing. The love story is epic and the action and adventure is nonstop. Definitely 10/10 for me

Okay listen

An interesting concept if you can forgive the final book information dump, use of words like "shakily" and "prepily," the abundance of preteens making out on NY trains (Not being a New Yorker myself, possibly I am ignorant to the consistent presence of 9-12 year old couples sucking face on the subway?) and I would recommend just stopping before the quick back and forth POV shifts at the end.

There is so much I want to talk about, but the synopsis is so vague. I think this journey is best discovered on your own. I will say this; the revelations are fascinating and the tale takes some dark turns. There are moments I wanted to scream in frustration and I was never truly sure of where Hodkin would ultimately leave us. There are fantastic gut wrenching scenes with beloved characters and secondary characters. We experience the characters fear, uncover clues with them and feel moments of absolute desperation. Hodkin does weave in moments of humor and gives us glimpses of the once normal adolescents before these events marred their lives. The clinic, experiments, testing, and truth of it all is brilliant. It is all quite maddening, really, if you think about it. I would love to sit down and share coffee with the author. Her mind is diabolical and it is clear she has been in total control of this tale from the onset.

Christy Romano has made listening an absolute pleasure. Her inflection and unique voices for the characters added an additional element of enjoyment. Her pacing and tone notched up the suspense and the hours slipped by in the blink of an eye.

If you have not started the Myer Dyer series, I recommend that you do. This is one of my favorite young adult paranormal. Fans of unreliable narrators will loved the experience. The Retribution of Mara Dyer was a brilliant conclusion to the trilogy.

Love the series!! I just want to know what their real names are!! Very well written and as mentioned by others: no love triangle! I hope to hear more about Noah and Mara.
