Library director Lindsey Norris is happy to learn the Briar Creek Public Library is the beneficiary of the Dorchester family’s vast book collection. However, when Lindsey and the library staff arrive at the old Victorian estate to gather the books, things take a sinister turn. One of the bookcases reveals a secret passage, leading to a room where a skeleton is found, clutching an old copy of The Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe.

Lindsey does a quick check of missing persons, using the distinctive '80s era clothing worn by the deceased to determine a time frame, and discovers that Briar Creek has an unsolved missing-person case from 1989. A runaway bride went missing just weeks after her wedding. No suspects were ever arrested, and the cold case remains unsolved. Lindsey and the crafternoon crew decide that justice is overdue and set about solving the old murder mystery, using some novel ideas to crack the case.

Another twisty mystery from Jenn McKinlay. I couldn't quite sus out the murderer and then there was THE CAT to muddle things up.

Annoying that people can’t have their phones out and ready before they separate from their group. Make Lindsay more proactive and smart.

This book is an easy listening story. Just the right amount of complexity to keep you from knowing who did it. Suspense without gore.

I enjoy Jenn’s books greatly and appreciate her story telling. I enjoy the growing relationships between all the characters and can’t wait for each book to see how more Robbie has grown in his place in the story. This was a wonderful story!

She finds a 5 month old cat where no cat has been seen for years? The murderer is SO obvious and the plot so lame

I’m not a fan of ghostie creepy. I hope this isn’t going to be a new direction for this series because I’ve been a 5-star fan till now.

Too creepy

It was entertaining for an easy read. Lindsey, the library director, and hubby Sully try to solve a cold case that could indict close friends. While it did have a good plot and characters you like, there wasn't a lot of depth to either. If you want a easy mystery this is a nice option. I listened on audible and the narrator, Allyson Ryan was not great. She did okay with most female voices, but male voices and accents were not easy on the ears.
