Acerca de esta escucha

Pianist/composer Irving Fields formed one of the first piano-bass-drum trios in jazz and went on to compose hundreds of songs performed by Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Xavier Cugat, Guy Lombardo, Dinah Shore, Sarah Vaughan amongst many others. His career reached a climax in 1959 when he fused Latin with Klemzer on his Decca album "Bagels And Bongos", one of the first such world music fusions. He'd go on to fuse many world music styles with Latin rhythms. His previous work with Latin music had already caused Cugat to ask Irving early on to join his orchestra, thinking this Jewish kid from the Lower East Side was actually Cuban. His legacy was the impetus behind the famous 'And You Shall Know Us By The Trail Of Our Vinyl' book charting the history of Jewish music on vinyl. In his 90's Irving got a new burst of fame by composing the "You Tube Dot Com Song" that became an online success and brought new fans to his particular brand of novelty song, having been rediscovered and touted by Montreal Klezmer fusion musician SoCalled. This is his story as recorded by Huffington Post columnist Tony Sachs. Includes his life from his earliest days to age 94, when he wrote the book, including the stories behind some of his famous songs, jokes he's written, the first discography on him and a special look at his sister Peppy Fields, the Sophie Tucker of Miami, by music critic Aaron Joy. Irving died at age 101 still playing the piano multiple nights at week up until only a few months before his death. * "Irving has said that work is a blessing, especially when you like your work. He loves his work & that love is evident in his music - Irving is a great pro." - Donald Trump, businessman and U.S. President * "He's like Ahmad Jamal - he just knows what will work on piano in a trio context and what won't. The master!" - Anthony Coleman, pianist with John Zorn's ensemble * "The last of the New York showmen." - Roger Bennett, movie producer * "Nicaragua is proud to count Irving Fields as one of their friends who put Nicaragua on the map ... its an honorary national anthem his song 'Managua, Nicaragua'." - Eduardo Somoza, Nicaraguan Ambassador to the United Nations * "At 94, Fields looks 25 years younger than his age & his lithe hands dance over the keyboard. In short, Fields is both a musical and medical marvel." - C.J. Sullivan, 'New York Post' writer * "Talented professionals, the Irving Fields Trio can do anything well & in good taste." - Michael Couture, 'Boca Raton News' writer * "At a baby grand ... Irving Fields sits like the crown prince of pianists. & well he might. With his long & distinguished musical lineage, no one has better claim to the title." - Bob Harrington, 'New York Post' writer * “Irving Fields has got to be one in a million.” - Marc Acito, 'AOL Daily Finance' writer Entretenimiento y Celebridades Música Celebridad Piano Músico Divertido
