Why does it seem that many Catholics, who know Jesus’ last words to humanity were, “Behold your Mother” (Jn. 18:27), almost never take Mary as their primary and most excellent guide in their spiritual lives?
Especially due to the fact that Pope St. Paul VI wrote…
“Mary is not only an example for the whole Church in the exercise of divine worship but is also, clearly, a teacher of the spiritual life for individual Christians” (Marialis Cultis, 21).
And before him, Blessed Pope Pius IX declared…
“For, God has committed to Mary the treasury of all good things, in order that everyone may know that through her are obtained every hope, every grace, and all salvation. For this is His will, that we obtain everything through Mary” (Ubi primum, 5).
What these saintly Popes are saying is that when it comes to deepening your relationship with God and growing closer to Him and in His love, the best thing you can do is put all of your eggs in Mary’s basket.
“The Marian Writings of St. Robert Bellarmine” helps you do exactly that!
It gives you the best one-two punch to skyrocket your devotion to Mary…and your skills in Marian apologetics.
St. Robert was the most learned man in the Church during his lifetime.
In fact, when Pope Clement VIII named him a Cardinal, he said…
“The Church of God has not his equal in learning.”
St. Robert’s Marian writings are so easy to understand, that it’ll be a breeze for you to absorb them. And it won’t take you a lot of time.
This collection includes his writings on Marian doctrine and Marian apologetics, his Marian sermons and sermon fragments.
It also contains biographical material about him, which, until now, has never been translated. It’s all focused on how he lived his own devotion to Mary.
That’s where he shows you “how to learn from the example of Mary.”
Pope St. Pius X stated unequivocally about Mary…
“Hence nobody ever knew Christ so profoundly as she did, and nobody can ever be more competent as a guide and teacher of the knowledge of Christ.
“Hence it follows, as We have already pointed out, that the Virgin is more powerful than all others as a means for uniting mankind with Christ.
“Hence too since, according to Christ Himself, “Now this is eternal life: That they may know Thee the only truly God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent” (John 17:3), and since it is through Mary that we attain to the knowledge of Christ, through Mary also we most easily obtain that life of which Christ is the source and origin” (Ad diem illud, 7-8).
That was certainly true in St. Robert’s life, because during the process of his canonization, the Church concluded that he’d never committed a deliberate venial sin. And since God grants all graces through Mary, that was a special grace that she obtained for him.
Imagine how the Marian writings of someone who lived so close to Jesus and Mary will help your own spiritual life.
To repeat what Blessed Pope Pius IX said above…
“For, God has committed to Mary the treasury of all good things, in order that everyone may know that through her are obtained every hope, every grace, and all salvation. For this is His will, that we obtain everything through Mary” (Ubi primum, 5).
That’s why not growing closer to Mary is a guaranteed loss.
To paraphrase Pope St. Leo the Great: But he is unfaithful and unfair even to himself, who does not wish to have forever what God esteems desirable.
