Great read

Great book. Well researched. Entertaining. Humorous without making us Florida Crackers look stupid. I just wish they had told the narrator the right way to pronounce the Tamiami Trail.

A real Florida girl loves a real Florida story

I only started reading (listening) to Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford novels a little more than a month or so back. Thus far each book seems to be better than the previous and I find myself wishing I had tried reading RWW a long time ago. Great setting's, brilliantly drawn characters, and writing that keeps the pace up and keeps me invested all the way through. I cannot recommend The Man Who Invented Florida enough.

I liked that you never really know what’s going to happen in this book. The story is kinda misogynistic and not the most exciting mystery premise but it’s not the worst book I’ve ever read.

Randy Wayne White goes off in a little different direction but a really great story then includes so much about the history of Florida it is really worth a listen just for that. At the same time it's a really good plot with a lot of interesting twists. Dick Hill does another great job with his performance

almost historical novel about Florida

The high pitched whiny drawl of the reader eventually stopped me in my tracks. I stopped listening with 12 hours to go. Like fingernails on a chalk board. Too bad because it's not a bad story.

The reader's voice just about kills the book

I struggled with the plot. His other books are better. However, the characters are funny.

I read the whole series in the eighties. This book was just not much about Ford and his skills mostly rambling about other people still not bad.

This was a struggle for me. I absolutely hated the character representing Doc's uncle. This guy drove me crazy and reminded me of someone from my past. The story was a bit weak and predictable. At the bottom of the list of books I read this year.
