Acerca de esta escucha

For over six years, the Lost Fleets have been trapped in the Triangulum Galaxy. Every day has been filled full of danger as the galaxy conquering Simulins search relentlessly for them.

With the arrival of the Distant Horizon, a daring plan is made. A message drone will be sent back home to give them warning of the deadly danger the Lost Fleets are facing. A danger that will soon boil over into the home galaxy as well.

In the heart of a massive star cluster, Admiral Jeremy Strong learns the Simulins' greatest secret. A secret that is so dangerous it could mean the end of all civilized life.

Back home Admiral Race Tolsen waits for a Simulin attack. An attack that the politicians in the Human Federation of Worlds don't believe will ever come. But Race knows better, all the evidence points to an imminent invasion. An invasion he doesn't have the forces to stop. He will need a miracle, but miracles sometimes are hard to come by.

I love that the books keep the reader guessing. Wondering what will come next, and satisfied with the direction of the twists and turns.

A great Sci-Fi read

Like the inclusion of the dyeing sphere. And the influx of new fleet.

Looking forward to next in series.

Best book yet

Another entertaining addition to the ongoing story with fantastic reading, and fine writing. The battles were exciting as well as the sense of building, improving, and character lives continued in the backdrop of the dangers.

Usual gripe, the wait to use the human-AIs as the last resort remains, but by this many books in the series I should just shut up and accept that's the way it is going to be. It might be a military sci-fi genre thing, its about human lives lost as the price of war, the use of fighters instead of drones.

I am curious if any more human-AIs will ever be made. In Alien Contact, 6 were mentioned, but the other 4 were never heard of, so I presumed never made, but were in planning. Now centuries later, isn't it about time to add to the effective population of 2 of the human-AIs, especially since more alien AIs, who themselves admitted they are inferior, are increasing their populations. Oh and here might be a twist, a Careth-AI.

Love the expansive ideas, as much as I gripe about AIs, Mr. Weil continues to mix in concepts that make his stories different than the usual stock and trade space fleet sagas, orbital habitats in the earlier series to escalating with megastructures here as well as touch on theories of hyperspace travel and dark matter. Its a geek's pleasure to read.

Looking forward to the next book.

Big ideas continue

His cadence is annoying and some of his characters speak in a whisper and I could barely hear what was said. Also, some one should him how to pronounce Gaia. I cringed each time he said it.

Good but narrator is annoying

What made the experience of listening to The Lost Fleet: Into the Darkness the most enjoyable?

The voices of the narrator are fantastic. I have read the books too but it's so much better with the narrator. He's so good.

What other book might you compare The Lost Fleet: Into the Darkness to and why?

I'd compare it to the frontiers saga since they are going out into space fighting aliens trying to kill them.

What does Liam Owen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Exciting narration. I've heard lots of different narrators and they have a hard time doing female voices which this one doesnt.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were a few times I laughed and others I got the cold chills.

Any additional comments?

I had to buy the next book on my kindle since it's not on audible yet. It was only released two days ago.

Exciting listen for sci fi lovers

I like to listen to this voice, because of the variation in intonation for the different characters.

Good variation of voices

Getting straight to the point, this entire series along with the previous books could have been sooo much better if they had chose a better narrative staff. The only negative in the writing is the senseless repeating of the obvious details, (white vortex every time a ship jumps instead of simply saying jumped into hyper space) How about tell more of the actual story and not waste 30% of the book of repeating the same details.it’s as if the writer is a horny teenager who only cares about the AI’s boobs and their shapely figure.
The story has potential to have been great. I read the entire series and had hoped that by listening to it that the repeating of obvious details would be culled out but no such luck.
Oh and whoever is doing the sound editing should be fired. Entire sections have been repeated at times, cutting off half words, obvious changes in pitch, mixing up voices. It’s almost comical.

Could be SO much better!

It feels a little childish with the special 5 characters. I’ve read several of the books and they were pretty good, but the worn out characters and a narrator that sounds like he is talking down to a fourth grade audience, were so annoying I couldn’t finish the audible version. A disappointment overall. Not recommended

Another special 5 Comic to book
