Hapless Nate Hester yearns for the safety and affection of a group. He sets off on a hitchhiking trip to escape bad parenting and the Vietnam draft.

Nate soon longs to be off the road. A drug dealer befriends him and introduces him to the Hells Angels. The Angels introduce him to the wonders of drug use and free sex, but the effects wane, and Nate leaps from mania to depression.

He accidentally shoots and kills a man. Guilt and fear of arrest overtake Nate's thinking. Relief comes only from intoxication. He discovers heroin and plummets, narrowly escaping death, but is rescued from his addiction only to continue dealing drugs.

It's an ok story. Not a non-fiction but a story about a guy (18 yrs old) bumps into an adventure with a Hell's Angel. Time lines are not realistic based on 1% culture and club life. If you are looking for an adventure story with a coming of age story then you might like this book. If you looking for a real life story of a 1% club this is not you book.

The story line was very slow to get to the 1st 3 chapters were pretty hard I almost stopped listening to it the story is OK but a little novice in the writing

The author’s reading was engaging and performative which brought the characters and events to life. Interesting coming of age story. Romance, murder, lessons in morality. Highly recomm

Pretty choppy, had barely anything to do with Hells Angels. I was expecting something different, more about riding and that lifestyle

This was an interesting read. This isn’t a book I would typically choose, but it was suggested to me by a good friend.

The story flows very well and the narrator (the author) does a fantastic job at changing the voices and being dramatic to build the intensity. The story kept me interested and wanting more at the end. Great job Mr. Hicks.

Despite the title & cover this has little to nothing to do with being in a Motorcycle Club. Author describes being being a shirt term hang around who quickly got into the world of illicit drug use, not Motorcycle culture.

Misleading

it's more or less about a man falling on s*** luck and being put in the wrong place at the wrong time. we're only briefly talks about being with the Hell's Angels

wasn't really a story about riding with the Hell's Angels
