A novel about boarding school, hardcore Scrabble fanatics, and fracking - a new kind of environmental novel by a spokesman and chief strategist for Common Cause.
The Fracking King follows Winston Crwth - a boarding-school kid, loner, and Scrabble prodigy - who becomes an unlikely hero in the fight to stop fracking in Pennsylvania. Truth is a rare commodity in politics, and the idea of "winning" a debate as cleanly and simply as you'd win a Scrabble game can seem impossible. But with the truth on his side, a jar of toxic "frackwater", and the belief that he can win a Scrabble tournament whose first prize is a meeting with Governor Linda King LaRue, Winston creates a moment of devastating truth for her and for the people who want to frack the state. For all its thoughtful environmental concerns, The Fracking King is also a hopeful audiobook about the power of believing in yourself and pursuing your own particular genius. Winston's Scrabble prowess has its freakish side, but it also makes him genuinely heroic, and his lexical predicaments are funny, shocking, dirty, and sometimes mind-boggling. This is the rare, satisfying debut that's as playful as it is profound.

How is it anyway possible to give a ONE star review for an audiobook that just CAME OUT 3 HOURS ago??? The answer? Its' not.Audible needss to fix this system. Once again, here is another book that gets low reviews within just HOURS of release. THere is no one on the planet that can truly give a complete, fair, knowledgeable review in that amount of time!
It is unfair to the other buyers, who many like myself, depend on the reviews of others before using precious credits on a audiobook! IT is also unfair to the publishers, writer, etc.
Plus who would BUY an audiobook period when they already know that is only worthy of one star??? Kinda fishy if you ask me...
Note - In order to support what I've said above, I will edit and give FULL review after I finish the novel...but otherwise this rating system is severly flawed (as are the people who don't take it seriously)
How exactly does a ONE-star review happen already?
