I am a big fan of Anne Perry books, particularly the Pitt series. I have read all of them and listened to many as audiobook versions. This one I did not enjoy as much. Although the story was interesting, it felt overly long and drawn out in the way it was told. I cannot say for sure whether it was the way it was written or the narration which made it feel like there was a lot of unnecessary repetition and embellishment. I liked some of the new directions, however, such as the budding friendships with the Hunters.
