Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson return in six further adventures which display the great detective's brilliance once more.
In these adventures set across the span of the duo's lives at 221b Baker Street, Holmes and Watson travel from the highest realms of society to the lowest dens of criminality across London in pursuit of the solution to a host of baffling mysteries. What secret does a simple wedding ring hold? What has become of a young woman fleeing the country? Can Holmes uncover the truth of a haunted house which has baffled all of London?
These are but a few of the questions which shall be answered in The Feats of Sherlock Holmes.

So let's talk about the tales themselves. I just don't see most of them as something that Watson would decide couldn't be published for at least a century and a year. It felt like a simple conceit to account for the books not appearing until now, and I just didn't buy it. The stories were okay, but definitely not up to the level of some of the top pastiches I've read or listened to.
In fact, some of them were just dreadful. Holmes solved too many of them without giving us even a fighting chance of seeing the solution for ourselves. While I don't enjoy mysteries where I have the solution as soon as the problem is stated, I also don't care for stories where the solution is suddenly presented out of the blue, where I had no realistic chance of solving it for myself.
In addition, the author tried to use "smart words" to make his writing more erudite. But he didn't really know the correct meanings, so it just doesn't work for me. Please, dear author, look up words you have not used on a very frequent basis for years.
And then we come to the narrator. He was okay. I guess. He didn't have a strong British accent, unlike most narrators of Holmes pastiches. But I don't hold that against him. But I do criticize him for his many misreadings and mispronounciations. Again, if you don't know the vocabulary, LOOK THE WORDS UP! And be careful as you read. Listen to what you are saying, to see if it makes sense. If not, you might have misread it.
I wish I could give this a better review, but I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review, and honestly, this was only a so-so book. Listen, or don't, as you choose.
Not bad, but…

The narrator, however, was a disservice to this writer. Obviously not British, there were times he totally dropped the accent. Then there were the numerous words that he massacred, more than once. These distractions took me completely out of the story.
I dont' like writing negative reviews, but I hope that this will give both parties impetus to improve. I wish well for both in the future, but hope the author finds someone else for his narrator.
Young author, poor narrator
