Ex-trailer trash. Ex-res. Dishonorably discharged ex-Force Recon Marine and MP. Ex-con. Ex-biker. Ex-FBI informant. Ex-wrestler.

It’s a lot of x’s to have by your name. It can give you a bad attitude, and it is not a good resume for most walks of American life. But it’s not a bad career track at all for a fixer in Los Angeles, and if the name of the new job is surviving the end of the world?

Put it this way. Staying alive in the post-apocalypse can be a real bitch. Sometimes it takes a real bastard.

My name is Benjamin Allen Frame. Last night, the Earth died screaming. Today is Day One....

While we may not all know one, let alone two people who have a bomb shelter, the character makes human decisions against it's chaotic world. A great post-apocalyptic story.

A story of a human being

So, people go out and spend thousands on testosterone replacement therapy, when all they really need to do it read or listen to these books! Frame is the epitome of a bad ass and his adventures had me feeling every emotion imaginable. This is quintessential doom porn at its finest, and I highly recommend it to anyone with interest in the genre! Well done!

Post-apocalyptic Batman, MadMax, and Duke Nukem!!

It has a bit of all of the above named, Nukem for the brutality, Fallout for the landscape and creatures, and Mad Max for the rugged biker style of it all. Without a doubt the best apocalyptic audio book iv listened to, not sure why on earth it isn’t more popular. I’m a slow listener but this one had me hooked and wanting more after the only two days from start to finish. You won’t regret it.

Nukem,Fallout,Mad Max!!!!!

Oh boy, I'm not even sure where I should begin with this. I bought the paperback and GA versions of this book and bounced back between them. The performance was spectacular. GA really hit it out of the park with this one and I cannot recommend their rendition enough. As for the book itself, without giving away spoilers, It. Was. Phenomenal. I ugly laughed, snorted, whooped out loud, and cried. BotA checked all of my boxes and added ones I didnt know I needed. Lol. The MC was everything (tall, dark, and gruesome is exactly my type), the action was great, the romance was hot, the witticisms were absolutely unhinged. Life is so short and we only have so much time to read so many books--let me say you are doing yourself a true disservice if you don't make this one of them! Frame will forever live rent free in my heart. 5/5 for me and I'll be devouring the authors other works. I'm impatiently, patiently, waiting for the next.

The most fun I've had reading/listening to a book--probably ever?

This was awesome. Grim dark scifi with the perfect amount of comical relief and an excellent performance!

Masterpiece

At first I thought, oh this is going to be hard to get through. Well, I kept listening, then, I wanted to know what next? That's how it got me hooked. What can I say.

Shoot it up time!

_Bastard of the Apocalypse: The Earth Died Screaming_ receives four stars from me. I listened to a graphic audio version with several actors, and I found the listen to be enjoyable and never annoying.

So often when I get a full cast some of the voices just don't fit with everyone else, or just grates on my skin. Not this time. Bradley Smith was the main character Frame, who is also telling the story. I found his reading to be spot on. His voice deep and resonate, very masculine. I found it matched the cover of the book. I'd get another book read by Smith.

The book.

What I liked about this novel was that it didn't seem to take itself seriously. I don't think I would classify it as a comedy, it is not. For example, after the apocalypse happens and Frame has decided to go out into the world, he meets up with some others who tell him about the goings on since the event. The narrator ticks off what kind of world he has based on other post apocalyptic movies and novels. I loved that.

This does indicate that this book isn't going to be breaking any new ground here with its world building. I don't think it does. It follows a lot of tropes that one finds in PA novels. However, there is the treatment of women, which I found a little different. So after women are completely subjecated but here it isn't nessarily the case. Yes it happens, but not exclusively to women, and not all women. I found that a little different, and refreshing.

Recommended: yes, I'd recommend this listen to anyone who enjoys that genre.

A standard Post apocalypsic novel
