Acerca de esta escucha

It starts with a strange glowing fog that arrives at the height of a snowstorm.

A terror from the past has returned, bringing with it death and destruction that threatens to overrun the town. The old stories tell of a postwar experiment gone wrong, one that opened the way for the fog - or whatever was behind it - to begin its reign of terror.

A small team of workmen are the last hope to keep their town alive through the long, storm-filled night. But the many horrors that await them are beyond anyone’s worst nightmares.

Annihilation meets Shawn of the Dead; poly-dimensional horror lends a Lovecraftian bent in what amounts to a good story. Sound quality is tinny, thank God the narrator is an inveterate storyteller.

This was a smorgasbord of good ol Lovecraftian fun with some Philadelphia Experiment thrown in.

Great Lovecraftian fun

This is like a grand scale Philadelphia Experiment gone terribly wrong and I loved it. There were parts of this book that drew me in and kept me absolutely riveted. There is so much in the universe that we don’t understand... I can totally see someone breaking the world in the midst of performing their crazy experiments. I loved the narration, Andy Barker did an amazing job. I didn’t see the end coming as it did because I got engrossed in the tale and did not put any thought into it. The book was good. I need to find more novels by William Meikle. This was my first, but it will not be my last for sure.

Story was okay, and ending was unsatisfactory. But the worst thing was the audio or sound quality. I had to turn the volume up more than normal.

Story okay.

This book is like Lovecraft decided to rewrite the Mist, or the Mauntok/Philadelphia experiments. Its definitely a science goes awry type story and bad things tend to spiral into worse things. The book is really good, and Barker tells a great tale, but the sound was off-kilter. It was just off enough that I had to actively ignore it, kind of like having poison ivy, and trying to listen to a lecture, only a bit more subdued. It's there and you can almost for get it, but you get used to it as it goes on. Restarting after a break is when you have to relearn to overlook it. Which is a damn shame since this is a really good story. I personally think it's worth it.

Great book and narrator but sound is off somehow
